Hi K.-
I, too, am a really big chicken when it comes to the dentist. It'd been years before I finally got up the nerve to call.
I went to Keller Family Dental...the office looks like a house, off of 1709. I saw Dr. Corley, but I've heard Dr. Laucke (sp?) is very good as well.
When I called, I explained that I was deathly afraid of the dentist and they took it from there. They were the first dental office I'd been to that 'believed' my feelings instead of shaking it off.
The only bad thing is that they are 'out of network' for me...so I end up paying a little bit everytime I go.
After my first visit (and a lot of work needed) I worked out a payment plan (it was with one of the 'credit cards' they offered). I'm pretty sure they have other plans as well-they have consultants to talk to.
Hope it helps.

I LOVE Dr. Karr at Alliance Dental. He is located at the corner of N. Beach and N. Tarrant. He has wonderful hours, staying late 2 nights until 9 pm and opening early at 7 am two days. ###-###-####
