Hi Mom's

Can anyone PLEASE suggest ways to support my back and stomach at night???? I am almost 7 months and feel 9 months...I am not sleeping at all... and it's taking a toll on me. Are there any good pillows to buy to support the back and stomach at once so I can sleep on my side? thank you so much.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
I never had a special pillow or anything like that. I always found the most comfortable way to sleep was on my left side, with my legs bent and a bed pillow between my knees.
I have heard of long narrow pillows that you could use like that, then they are long enough to come up, under your neck and down your back too. Good luck!

The best way to sleep is on your left side so the baby doesn't compress any of your organs (including your spine if your lying on your back). I used a regluar bed pillow for between my knees, however Baby's R US does have a special pillow that will rap around your body just the way you need the fit. I have also heard of people using a regular body pillow so you get the suport on the belly as well and the legs.

Boppy makes a maternity pillow, I found that to be the best one. I'm tiny so I started to get big real fast. It's a lot softer than the nursing Boppy, so that you can position it to your needs. There is also another pillow out there that is soft and shaped like a big "C" I'm not sure of the name. I have never used it, but I have friends who swear by it. All of these pillows are together in the same section of Babies 'R' US. Hope this is helpful.

L....
I know exactly how you feel! I just used lots of pillows and had the bed to myself. My hubby did the guest room or the couch. I was able to be at home during my pregnancy as I also had edema (sp?) and was in terrible pain. I slept better during the day. I know not possible for you as you have another little one.
Just use lots of pillows. I bought the snoogle and it was a waste of money for me. Maybe it will work for you?
Good luck,
Chris

Hi L.! Ugh! I hated that--I felt like I was so tired by day and then to have my sleep be unsettling...blehhh.

I'm too cheap to buy a special maternity pillow. I just used one of those pillows you throw on the couch. I used a small one though--12x12 and not too fluffy. It was easy to turn over and not bonk my husband when I switched sides in the night. The other thing my husband was willing to do was to put his back right up to mine like a wall and I leaned into it for support. (A best friend can do that ;=)--how wonderful for you to have such a great relationship!). Darryl was even willing to be woken up to "assume the position" if I needed it during the night.

I wish you only the best with the rest of your pregnancy and hope that you get this resolved soon. Do you have problems with the baby being active in the night as well?
