Hi everyone, I am looking for a new pediatrician who will be open to doing an alternative vaccine schedule to space out the aluminum containing shots. I live in McKinney and would prefer to find someone as close as possible. I have a toddler who needs to begin the catch up schedule and another baby on the way that I want to begin the vaccines on time with but space them out. Does anyone have or know of a pediatrician who will work with me?

Angie, I live in McKinney too, but i see Dr. Bain in Frisco. She is VERY happy about doing an alternative vaccination schedule, and in fact, is one of the only doctors I know of who offers the MMR split up. She is very eduacted in vaccines and which ones are even important and doing them on a schedule that works for you. I have not vaccinated my baby and i am meeting with her next week to talk about my options. i love her.
###-###-####. She is worth the bit of drive into Frisco.

I'd recommend Dr. Nicole Sutton at Pediatric Associates (they are at Highlands and Eldorado which is just West of Hardin and Eldorado - they are next to the Primrose School). Her number is ###-###-#### - tell her D. Alford sent you - she's excellent at these types of questions and needs.

Angie,
Just a reminder to NOT get a flu shot . They have thimerasol in them and I would pass on the Hep B shot the day they are born! There are too many vaccines in this schedule and to weed some of them out would be a good plan. I have a vaccine injured child and believe me you do not one that!
There is a new book by Dr. Sears on vaccine schedule and Dr. Stephanie Cave has one too. You may want to read before you start a schedule. You are smart to be safe!!!!

Hi Angie,

I see Dr. Nicole Sutton also and she's great. She listens to your concerns and is very open to an alternative schedule. Dr. Blatt in that same practice (Pediatric Healthcare Associates) is as well. My son, who's 7 months old, is on a slower schedule. Good luck!

I have had two previous pediatricians with my older kids and have endured more lectures on why I should not alter the vaccination schedule than I care to remember, not to mention the attitude I have gotten by nurses in both practices when it comes to my alternative views...
My 9 month old goes to Dr. Cheryl Eley in McKinney, and I could not be happier with her. When I asked her about her view on an alternative schedule, without a moments hesitation or note of judgement in her voice, she said "You're her mom, and whatever you want to do is fine with me". It was so refreshing. Her staff has been great about it, as well. Her number is ###-###-####.

I have used All About Children Pediatrics in McKinney. Dr. McConnell is no longer there and she was my favorite. Dr. Smith is good and I know they will work with you.

I currently use Dr. Bain in Frisco....she is wonderful and if you are looking for a doctor that will educate you in some alternative treatments (when antibiotics can be avoided) plus the flexibility with vaccines, she will be great for you. I also live in McKinney, but will happily drive to her clinic off Lebanon and Legacy. Her website is: www.healthykidspediatrics.com

If you have questions regarding either of these let me know. Good for you for going against the grain to follow your instincts...we have done the same thing and would not have done it any other way.

Hi Angie, My family sees Dr. Nelson Simmons. His practice is called Personal MD. He is wonderful! I believe in a lot of "alternative" medicine and although he is a "traditional" doc he has always been open to what I think and want to do with my boys and we have worked together for years to come up with the best plan for our boys that I am comfortable with. He listens, takes time, gives me his opinion and lets me make the decision.

I don't know what her vaccine policies are, but I really like my new pediatrician--Dr. Sutton at Pediatric Health Care Associates on Eldorado in McKinney.

If you call the office, I'm sure someone could talk to you about vaccines.
