Hello Mom's

I am planning a sea world trip with My 19 Month old. any advice on what necessities I should bring? Any help you can give with making the trip smooth for him would be great! He is a very active boy so we usually have him on the monkey ( One of those harnesses) I am just worried about nap time and of course just want to make it a fun trip.

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies for all your advice! We had a blast! Geoffrey loved all the animals he was a little scared going into some of the dark exhibits but we got through it. His favorite was the 4D Elmo Show and the tide pool (Starfish). He was able to watch all the shows He love The Dolphin show too. His nap was a little interrupted he slept about 1 hour and 20min only while we waited for the Shamu show to start
(he is normally a solid 2 hour napper) We bought cheep ticket through my work and got a 2 day pass so we cant wait to go back next month!

He will love it! We took my son last year when he was two and we're going again next week. It was so much fun to watch how happy he was seeing all the animals!

Anyway, definitely bring your stroller, that will help with naps, etc. Suntan lotion and hats...Sea World doesn't have a lot of shade. Cool clothing...a change of clothing for him too! Also, I personally think Sea World has some of the worst amusement park food and the lines are long and it's expensive. What we do now is the Dining with Shamu lunch. You have to book it ahead of time online or by phone, but it's soooo worth it. Right after or before the show, you have lunch in a buffet style (with food for kids that is free for your son's age), you have drink service provided, high chairs arranged for you before you get there, better food than is in the rest of the park and then the best part...a trainer to answer questions about Shamu and one of the whales swimming around in a pool RIGHT next to where you are eating. It's really great and our son loved it! It was also shaded so that was a nice bonus.

Oh! There is also a new Sesame Street area that opened up...

Enjoy!

Hi-

I was just there on Sat. with our girl scout troop. We had a 23 month old with us. He did really well most of the day. Bring the usual snacks and food-food is very exspenive there but very tasty. Lots of water, sunscreen hat etc. You can rent strollers there. You should also bring wipes and hand sanitizer for after touching animals, just in case his fingers get to his mouth before you can wash him. If you buy a souvenir cup, refills are $1.50 teh rest of the day.

The only real problem the little boy had came during the Shamu show (the only one we saw). After 10 minutes he was DONE and his dad took him out. If you want to see any shows, sit on an end row near the exit in case you have to leave. You can also plan on seeing those while he sleeps. The shows last 20- 30 minutes.

There is now the Sesame Street Bay of Play where there is water activites and lots of climbing equipment and kiddy rides. If you go in there be very watchful. It's easy to lose a kid.

Buy your tickets online to minimize wait in the front. There is special where you get the rest of the year free going on now-$65 adult. You can purchase a parking pass online and save $2 or pay $17 for preferred parking.

There are times when you can feed the dolphins, sea lions and sting rays. It is less crowded to visit these areas when it isn't feeding time. However, feeding the stingrays is awesome and probably the easiest for your son to touch. Don't worry-they have no stingers!

A tip for seeing the wild artic exhibits. Wait in the non motion line which is shorter. Instead of watching the movie (which is cheesy and wouldn't hold interest for your aged child) just walk through the theater and straight to the animals. The first beluga whale window really crowds up. Walk around to the next one to get your view. You can also see poalr bears and walruses' above and below water. FYI-There is a "cave" kids can crawl through. It plays loud growling sounds and scare your son-you should have heard our 8 girls scream!

There is a touch tide pool tank which is fun. Near there is a world aquarium with a huge octopus, lobster and 20 legged spiny star fish. At 9:15 am the flamingos parade around the park.

Have a great trip!

Is this Susie? What is the chance of coming across another S. A with a sweet baby boy by the name of Geoffrey ;)
Girl, you are going to have a blast and it looks like you've already have gotten some good advice.
Definitely a change of clothing and lots of fluids for him to drink. Some snacks and a blanket to block the sun when he naps.
Have fun!
Love ya,
L.

Hi. We recently took our daughter (16 mos) to the SD Zoo and Disneyland and here's what I packed in a small bag that fit under the stroller:
- bottled water with drinking spout for baby (from grocery store)
- disposable multi-use pads for easy changing inside stroller and lots of wipes (also great for hands and face)
- disposable gloves stuffed with rolled diapers so hands stay clean and when you're done, you just roll the diaper back into the glove and toss
- Cheerios or other snack that's easy to handle for baby
- 2 back-up meals in case baby doesn't like/eat food available at park
- sunscreen!! and a small spray bottle with water to cool off when needed
- 2 changes of clothes
- light blanket to cover from sun/for napping
My daughter took a nap on her own as we were strolling the parks. We also took the harness and let her explore closeby. The middle of the week was not very crowded. Be sure to check the weather and also the showtimes to plan your day. Good luck and have fun!

Hi
STROLLER, Sunscreen, snacks, water, bathing suits and towels. You can use the towel to put over the stroller, if he takes a nap. There are a few indoor activities and shaded areas
Good luck

He'll be fine. Just take your stroller and he'll fall a sleep when he gets tired. Take what you usually take when you go visit someone for a long period of time. Extra cloathes, diapers, his baby food, bottles exc. what you usually take. Take a few toys for the trip. He'll be fine.
