Recommendation for Music Classes Around Lakeview

Hi, my 22-month old daughter is very musical. She loves to listen to music, she sings constantly, and she also loves to dance. I would love to take her to music and/or dance classes, but I know how important a good teacher is, so I wanted some recommendations. We live in Lakeview, so if you can recommend classes in the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area, that would be best. My sister took her kids to Music Together in Hyde Park and she loved it but that's too far for me. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My 23 month old daughter and I have done both Kindermusik and Wiggleworms classes and I have to say I much prefer the Kindermusik classes. They are much more interactive and teach kids how to listen to different rhythms and intonations in all the sounds around them. My daughter loves it and sings the songs all the time, does the activities and dances on her own, and has started making up her own songs and exploring the way different things make noise in her environment. It's great! Plus they get a CD, book and instrument of some sort to have at home as well.

I used the following link to look for educators near Lakeview and it came back with a bunch (independents as well as through DePaul and Suzuki school in LP):

I highly recommend it.

Hi,
We've been enjoying the Music Together classes in Lakeview/Andersonville for almost 2 years now and have also had Mary and Tiffany as instructors. Patty is also a good one (really silly and she connects with all the kids).

You may have already received this info, but The Old Town School of Music is a great place for private and group classes. My son is 15 months and has been going to Wiggle Worms since he was 10 months. He loves it! I am a teacher and finishing in my doctorate in education and I have the hightest praises for this school- the teachers are great! There is a location on Lincoln and one on Armitage. Good luck!

Check out Merry Music Makers (www.merrymusicmakers.net) - they offer Music Together classes in Lakeview & Andersonville. We've had both Mary and Tiffany as instructors and both have been excellent.

The Old Town School of Folk Music's "Wiggleworms" classes are great as well as Chicago Park District offerings. We've been happy with both! (OTSFM has classes in Lincoln Square and Old Town - but you may have a park district option even closer - and those classes are an eighth of the price!
