My circle time routine feels kind of stale...what is your favorite circle time song you sing?
I really would like a new welcome song or good morning song because I am not wild about mine...I adore the teacher in the next class's welcome song, but am worried she would be miffed if I used it as well...I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask = )
I hope you give me lots of great suggestions though. My kids love songs with actions, and the sillier the better. We sing the shake our sillies out song daily, sometimes twice a day. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

The one that my students used to love the most (I was an aide in a daycare for 3 yrs) was...

Five little monkeys swinging from a tree
teasin' Mr. Alligator, "You cant catch me...You can't catch me."
Along came Mr. Alligator, as quiet as can be...
SNATCH THAT MONKEY OUTTA THAT TREE!

Four little monkeys......
Three little monkeys....
etc.

I'd hold up 5 fingers, and swing my hand like swinging monkeys
then at the "along came Mr Alligator part" I'd do a gesture like an alligator slowly swimming through the water and say that part very quietly, like an animal sneaking up on its prey
Then gesture with both arms like they were an alligator mouth for the SNATCH THAT MONKEY part

The kids LOOOVED it, and so did I

Go to your local business supply and ask them if they have the books for Mailbox Curriculum, they are about $15 each but have a whole month of ideas with themes, activities, foods, crafts, center toys and activities, songs, sing language to some songs, all kinds of stuff. I used them year round, one for each month. They never got old and it was something new each month.

SteveSongs has some cute songs:

It's been a while, so I don't remember the gathering song, but we did lots of wiggle songs. I would ask the teacher, she probably wouldn't mind. Some class favorites:

Once there was a snowman
leaves are falling all around
popcorn popping on the apricot tree
5 little monkeys jumping on the bed
hinges
head shoulders knees and toes
do as i'm doing, follow follow me

Do you guys have the Greg and Steve CD's?

If you don't, go to the library and check them out, see if you like them.

Also, crazy as this sounds, what about "Good Day Sunshine" By the Beetles. or Good Morning, Good Morning

Bright Sun Shiney Day

Lovely Day

All of these songs are fun and can be played to call the children to the circle and then when they get there everyone can join in together.
