The Primal Blue Print and the PALEO program isn't really a DIET its supposed to be a lifestyle change. I get that. I am wondering if its a good weightloss plan? Can we loose weight on this? I have about 40lbs I need to shed before I get married/elope and i am wanting to make a healthier lifestyle food wise for our family anyway.

My fiance is also diabetic and from what I hear PALEO or Primal is a great way to go for the diabetic family.

So my questions are - For you moms who are on it or have done it... What was your experience? Do you love it or hate it? If you love it .... Where are some good websites and blogs for recipes?

I have a huge sugar addiction... I crave it every single day... I am healthy - Had my blood checked nothing is wrong but I naturally crave sugar... I want that addiction kicked to the curb.... Looking to change!

Lets hear your thoughts mamma's!!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Any time you are needing to lose weight you need to consider it a lifestyle change otherwise the weight will come right back on. I lost a lot of weight fast with the 90 weightloss program and gained it back because I went back to my old habbits instead changing my lifestyle. Anything will work but you have to commit to it for life meaning a lifestyle change. One of my friends does the body by vi and has been real successful but even she says she will always have to supplement a meal with a shake for the rest of her life. Myself I enjoy food too much for that. I like the idea of the Food for life program. I bought it but I have yet to really sit down and study and do it so I cant tell you how fast it works.

most eating plans are based on junk science.
you'll lose weight if you cut junk out.

here's a better idea for eating- eat minimal protein. eat lots of fruits. eat lots of veggies. eat whole grains (brown rice, 100% whole wheat bread, etc)

cut out white foods- white rice, milk, white bread, potatoes, sugar, salt, etc.

try to cut out as much processed foods as possible.

you'll lose weight doing that for sure.

Good luck-

This is a very clean diet and good for everyone. Yes, you can lose weight on this type of diet. The biggest reason is because you will feel fuller from these foods and be less likely to overeat. However, if you take in more calories than you burn off you will not lose weight and will gain weight. Here is a video about a program designed specifically for people with diabetes. It includes both diet and exercise. Let me know if you have any issues viewing the video. http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/fithome?bctid=10131...

I think Paleo is for hard core athletes (e.g., Crossfit). I assume this is meant for people who exercise A LOT and need a lot of protein to build muscle. I don't know too much about it, but you may want to watch the fat and cholesterol since I think it recommends lot of meat. I know that a lot of normal person diets have the same approach - like South Beach starts with cutting out carbs completely and then gradually reintroducing only good carbs. But most of the weight loss is near the beginning and then it stablizes to 1-2 lbs per week with exercise. Just my thoughts.

I really think that you should try the South Beach Diet-Supercharged. It is a much more liveable plan and excellent for diabetics. The first 2 weeks are meant to curb you of your carb addiction so carbs are very limited. After that they are introduced back in. It is really more a way of life than a diet. Paleo would be hard to stay on IMO-you would probably lose the weight but then quit because it is so hard to eat like that long term.

I have tried the sB diet and it really does help you withyour sugar addiction.

I have been doing this for about a month now. The book Paleo Solutions was given to me by my doc. In this short month I have felt great, lost wait and have a whole new out look on food and life. I say try it for a month and see how you feel. There are great websites to help. Mellisa S. mentioned a few that are great. I also like The Clothes Make the Girl blog. Fun recipes.
Good luck to you and your new lifestyle change.
