Hi girls!

I would like to enroll my son in preschool in the fall. He will be 4 in July. He already knows his alphabet, sounds of the letters, how to write the letters, how to write words, and can read (he can sound out 3 and 4 letter words). I have been told that this is above-average for his age?? Not sure about that.... however, I would like to enroll him in a preschool that can expand on this... I guess one this is academic rather than just social play?? Does that make sense? Also, I would love to find one that he could attend 3 days a week, as opposed to 5 days a week... and half days would be better than full days (atleast until I can acquire a full time job!) I just started touring preschools in my area, and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions.

Thank you all so much! You have helped me a lot in the past, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions!
D.

My friend, who is a teacher herself, sends her kids to Boulevard School. It is on Victory Bl. near Fallbrook. She raves about the school and it is academic. I am just not sure about the configuration of days and times. You should schedule a tour. Good luck!

My 4-year-old son attends Stepping Stones Montessori on the corner of Valley Circle / VanOwen. They are having an open house this weekend, so it would be simple for you to check it out then. We have been very pleased with it. Individual attention is given to each child and work is done to his individual skill level. My son has learned a lot there and has found a wonderful group of friends at the same time. Initially, my son attended 3 days a week for half days only. He now attends 5 half days. 5 days is more typical at the school, but 3 days a week is definitely an option. Good luck with your search.

Hi D.,
Check out Boulevard School - it is on Victory near Fallbrook - ###-###-#### - www.boulevardschool.com.
I was going to send my son there but it was a little far for me to drive but my 2 nieces went there and loved it. They also have summer camp.

We went to Kol Tikvah Preschool on Ventura Blvd near Winetka next to Taft High School. We loved it there too.

Good luck!

It sounds like your son is a perfect candidate for a Montessori program. Most of them require 5 full days a week, but I'm sure you can shop around and find something that fits your requirements. Good luck!

My kids both went to Shepherd of the Valley near Platt and Kittridge. It's a Lutheran school that goes preschool thru 6th grade. It's a caring community, they are WASC accredited and they education is excellent.

My son now goes to Ivy Academia. I believe they have a preschool campus in West Hills or close. They are an entrepreneurial charter school and also has an outstanding curriculum. They are preschool through high school and have 4 different campuses depending on the grade level.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I have my son going to Heart of the Valley in Reseda near Sherman Way and Reseda Blvd. I live in Canoga Park and I personally love the school with it's teaching and care the teachers have.
