Do any of you have your kids in a reasonable priced preschool in this area?
I am looking for possibly the fall, this spring I believe it's to late to enroll.
I am willing to as far south as Rancho and up towards Roseville, but would prefer this area.

My almost 4 year old is pretty ready, and so am I.

What can I do next?

Parents can enroll their children into most private preschools year round. My children are enrolled in a montessori pre-school and it has worked for us very well. Preschool is expensive and you will learn that most schools are in the same ball park $600-700 per month.

Stacy,
I have my 4 yr old at First Pres. Church Pre School in Roseville off of Coloma and Sunrise. The cost is $255/mo for three days a week from 9-12. She loves it and has had great things to say about her teachers. They actually start kids there at 2 yrs of age and will even potty train if they are not trained (dont know if cost is different if not trained). We started our daughter there last year in Jan. when she turned 3 and loved every minute of it. The class has about 10-12 kids and 1 teacher plus an assistant per class room. Love the teacher/student ratio. They get sooo much attention, more than I could possably give since I also have an 11 mo. old. It is Christian based and they have chapel time and sing Christian songs among other things. I highly recommend this school!! Good luck on your search.

My boys go to a Montessori school on Oak Avenue called Whispering Oak Montessori Academy. We are paying $520 for 5 school days and siblings get 10% off. Tuition is lesser for 3 and 2 days.. They have after care too. www.whisperingoakmontessori.com

We love the teachers and the school is very clean and safe. . My son knows all his numbers, letters, and sounds at 3 1/2 years old. My sister is an elementary school teacher, and she sees that the curriculm covered more that prepares children for kindergarten. She had many 6 year olds in public school that were less ready than these preschoolers. It is also a beautiful facility in which anyone would feel save leaving their child. We're lucky to have it!

I believe they still have openings and accepts children who are not potty-trained yet. Try calling them. Tel no. ###-###-####

Good Luck!

I STRONGLY recommend the Sunrise Rec and Park Program. I have had both my kids son (9) and daughter (4) in the Sunrise Rec and Park program at Rusch Park. Both my kids attended for two years before attending school. (My daughter is still enrolled- this is her second year.) Miss Kathy is a WONDERFUL and very patient teacher. Both my kids started (and will start) kindergarten with knowing all of the letter sounds, counting to 100, and able to recognize some sight words. I have been very happy with the program and the head start it has given my kids.

There are a variety of time and day options available for the kids. Just be prepared - the registration starts online at midnight during the summer and you need to do this to guarantee your spot on during the class that you want. Besides the hassle of registration - you will be incredibly happy with the program.

Check out "Helping Hands" in a beautiful home setting just on the Orangevale side of Folsom. You will fall in love with it. It's run together by a wonderful, energetic, couple. Call Stephen or Lovell Nix at ###-###-####.

Hi S.,

Not sure exactly what reasonably priced means to you, but my son is currently enrolled at Creative Frontiers in Citrus Heights, and so far we have been happy with it. They have different prices that depend on the number of days and whether you want half days or full. They provide lunch and snacks. You can drop in and tour the school. This is their site: www.creativefrontiers.com. I toured a few schools and was sure to bring my son along. This helped us determine which was the best fit with his personality. Good luck!

Hi S.- I live in Carmichael and just started my 3 yr old in Jan at Wonderland off Walnut a christian preschool. It has been great so far. I found it by driving by so they don't really advertise, but it is a full school and they have a great program. You don't have to be part of the church to go to school there. I love it so far. They have part time also. My daughter goes 4 days a week. The price is great too and they include snacks and lunch. They have a full kitchen. I think she eats better than me now.

good luck :) K.

I love Tiny Tots Parent Participation Preschool!

When I visited and met Teacher Emily I felt safe in being able to leave my young children with her, which is saying quite a lot because the only people to babysit them have been grandparents. I know it's not that close, but people come from all over to go there. It's just amazing to me that it has been parent owned & operated for so long. The parents who are enrolled each year actually own the property, building & business!

They are also hosting:
Come join us at the Early Childhood Expo 2008. Here you will meet hundreds of preschools, daycares, and other local businesses that will be demonstrating what they have to offer to Sacramento’s children under 8.

From the Tiny Tots Preschool website:
"In place since 1949, Tiny Tots accepts children from 2 years, 9 months to age 6. Toilet-training is NOT a requisite for the program.
The school is situated in a private, gated and comfortable half-acre of land in a residential area near the Arden Fair Mall. Our outdoor play area is expansive with lots of grass, climbing structures, swings, tricycle paths and a hands-on garden."

"Tiny Tots embraces the philosophy that our children learn best through play, and we provide a safe and stimulating environment for them to do just that. We strongly believe, and academic research confirms, that children learn by activity and exploration. At Tiny Tots, self-exploration takes countless forms, from ample arts and crafts (with the emphasis on "process, not product") to free play and outdoor exploration."

There is a preschool fair sponsored by the Rocklin MOMS Club - North chapter (of which I am a part of) on Tuesday night, in Rocklin. If you are interested, let me know, and I'll send you the evite with the details. There will be about 15 or so preschools represented, with teachers from the school there with a table each with pictures, brochures, pricing and all sorts of other info, mostly from the Roseville/Rocklin area but some other areas like Loomis, Lincoln, etc. too.

I had my son in Fairvale Pre-school at Madison & Illinois ave. It is very reasonably priced (I think it's $450.00/month-I'm sure they give discounts for more than one child). They were great with him & he loved it there. He's now in 3rd grade & still asks to visit. I kept him there for kindergarten, too. It was a very small class size (10 kids) & he got alot of extra one on one attention that he would not have gotten in the public school. In fact his 1st grade teacher was impressed by how much he had learned.

I have to say we are really happy at Cordova Baptist Preschool in Rancho Cordova. We live in Gold River and it is literally less than 5 minutes away. I am a teacher and I went to a lot of other schools in the area and this one was the best by far. There were a lot that were "prettier" because they had newer and brighter play equipment etc., but this school focuses on the child. It has been around forever (my brother went there in 1975) and some of the teachers have been there for a long time. It has a great and supportive staff and I'd highly suggest looking at it. The school is not religious based and a lot of their students feed into St. John Vianney (sp) and other private schools. Give it a try!

My son loved going to Sunrise Childrens Center. It is on the feeder road across from Bella Vista High School, off of Buene Vista. Angie is the owner and is an english trained nanny, she is great with the kids and has very good teachers that work with her, the kids adore them. I believe she is reasonable in price and is worth the money. My son had no problem getting into kindegarten and my son has graduated from high school and still goes to visit her.

Check the headstart programs, (which are income based), but they will lead you to state preschool programs (for those who make a little more), and then you will just have to visit the schools to see which ones are right for you.
