My child currently attends Young Children's World in North Richland HIlls. I love her teachers and the director, but the parents are extremely unfriendly and very clicky. I feel uncomfortable every time I walk into the building. I am also looking for a preschool that offers a 3 day program.

What can I do next?

Hello. We sent our 4 yr old to St Phillip in Hurst. Corner of Precint line rd, and pipeline. Easily accessible from NRH and there are many families at the school from that area. We really like it there and plan on sending our 3 yr old next yr (her bday is past deadline). The parents arent clique the director and teachers are great.. Also they have preschool 5 days a week and the 4 yrs old must go 3 days a week, you can pick any days you want and last I knew there were still opening for 4 yr olds. we just love it.. here's the website.. good luck..

Hi A.,

My 4 year old also attends Young Children's World. I know exactly what you mean. A lot of these parents grew up together either at that church or at Fort Worth Christian school. I've grown up with them and have been dealing with these cliques almost my entire life. I thought that after high school people got over that but I guess not. I usually just go in and drop off/pick up my son and leave and maybe say hi to a few people I recognize in the hallway. Maybe we could meet somehow and form our own clique! Lol! I'm sorry about the impression some of them have left on you. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone and they've always been that way.

Our 2 year old son attends Primrose of the Mid-Cities in Hurst (practically NRH...practically Colleyville). We LOVE it there and so does he! They do infants through Kindergarten and the people who work there are absolutely wonderful. Some of the parents don't seem very friendly but they're also trying to get in and get out after work - so I don't think too much about it. There are a few parents who are really sweet.

I was intrigued by your post. My daughter also attends YCW and has for two years, now, and while we, too, love the teachers and staff, I feel the exact same way. Last year, I told my husband that it always made me feel like an awkward teenager watching the "cool kids," and I'm afraid that translates to my daughter, as well especially when we stay after school to play. This year, I cut her back to one day a week and enrolled her in Little Texas Scholars in Keller two days a week. She loves it, too. I'm really struggling with what to do next year, though. I want her to have more consistency, but I hate taking her away from her friends and environment she knows so well. Thanks for posting, and I look forward to reading your responses.

Try a church program. I put both of my children in one and we all loved it. They even offered Kindergarten and it was great for my son being my first and I was nervous sending him to a large public school so young.

You should check into Harvest Child Development Center (on 377 & Hightower I think it is). Our son has attended there for Parents Day Out for two years and now is in his first year of full-time PreK4. We will enroll him for full-time PreK5 in the fall as well because it is great. They do offer 3 day a week (MWF or TThF) options as part of the Parents Day Out Program for all levels from 18 months to 5 years. Their website is www.hcdc.org. Good luck!
