Can You Recommend a Preschool in Olathe?

I am looking for a preschool for my 3 1/2 year old son to attend. I have been staying home with him for a couple of years now, and it's time for him to be social and learn from someone other than me! :) I am mainly interested in Church based preschools (I don't really care about what denomination), but if you can recommend a good low-cost preschool in the Olathe area that is not at a church, please do! I'm not sure what preschool schedules are like, so if anyone would like to enlighten me, that'd be great! I will still be at home with his younger brother (11 months) so my schedule is flexible, but money is a bit tight.

What can I do next?

Noah's Ark Day School has been wonderful for my son. He is there for his second year and he loves it. It is located at the First Baptist Church on 151st Street. Jan Martino is the school director and she is a Godsend. The price is very reasonable too. Check them out soon as I know they fill up quick.

I have been sending my daughter to Advent Lutheran Preschool in Olathe for the past two years and have been loving it! (It is located at the intersection of 151st and Quivera.) As a former elementary school teacher, I have been very impressed with the staff, curriculum, and facility. Advent has a program for 3 yr. olds on T/R in the mornings and in the afternoons. The 4 yr. old program is on MWF in the mornings or the afternoons. The also offer a program for kiddos who are 5, but miss the kindergarten enrollment date. (FYI- Enrollment has started at Advent for the fall.) The kiddos attend "chapel time" once a week. At this session, they lightly discuss some basics of religion but mainly just virtues of life. My daughter has loved her time at Advent. I , without a doubt, plan on enrolling my next daughter in the following year! Good luck with your search!

My oldest daughter is 3 and has been going to Aldersgate Preschool at Aldersgate Methodist Church at 151st and Black Bob. It is a great School and she loves it! Their Phone number is ###-###-####. The director's name is Cindy Mawhiney. Email is ____@____.com and their website is www.aldersgatepreschool.com. I know they fill up fast and we already had enrollment for next year, so not sure what will be available, but it's worth a try.

I live in west Olathe and I have to HIGHLY recommend the folks at Kids Day Out (located at Westside Nazarene, just west of Parker on Santa Fe). They offer two programs - a "mom's day out" and a pre-school. My daughter started there when she was two (she's in 1st grade now) and my 2.5 yr old son attends now the "day out" program now.

Their preschool program truly prepared Lizzie for kindergarten and the classroom setting. The classes are 1/2 day, Tues-Thurs. You can choose between am or pm. They also offer Wednesdays as a full day for small monthly fee. Many preschoolers with younger siblings attend this session while their sibs are in Kids Day Out. It's a great way for mom to get some time out to herself.

Call Cindy (director) and Sue (asst director) ###-###-#### Tues thru Thurs from 9am to 3 pm. They're enrolling now for next fall. Just tell them that F. sent you! :D

I invite you to stop by and check out our preschool, Beautiful Savior Preschool. We have two different options for a child your son's age. I have been teaching 3's class there for 6 years now. All of our educators have a college degree (although not all in the education field). We have classes Monday through Thursday from 8:45 to 11:15 and on Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 to 3:00. If you come close to arrival or dismissal time, I am sure you could find a parent willing to speak with you about their experiences at our school.

Also, we do offer scholarships based on need. There is a short application to fill out and then our board reviews us. We are catty-corner Indian Creek Library at the top of hill. If you have questions, please call at ###-###-####

Hello K. - I live in OP and my 4 year old son attends Wee Workshop at 127th & Antioch (there's one in Olathe too but I'm not sure exactly where). It has been a great experience for him. I'm a stay at home Mom too, so I started taking him there at age 3 for socialization. They are very professional and kind, plus it is a well maintained and secure facility. You can choose half or full days and can send your child however many days of the week suit you best.

I don't know exactly where you live in Olathe, but there is a great preschool at Grace Covenant Church called Pioneer Preschool. It can be difficult to get into as it is very popular. It is on College Blvd. There is also a great preschool at Colonial Pres., but that is also in Overland Park off of 135th St. This is can also be a difficult preschool to get into as well. Many of the preschools had their public enrollment in January or February. I don't know about the cost of either of these preschools. I have also heard the preschool at Aldersgate United Methodist is also very good.

K., My son attended the pre-school at Heritage United Methodist Church at 130th (basically) and Quivira. We had a good experience there. Most pre-schools follow the Olathe School schedule, so if the big kids don't have school for breaks, etc., the little ones don't either. I was a little frustrated by the number of holidays, considering that you pay by the month. I believe that if you have to choose, Tuesday-Thursday is a better deal for your money (less hoildays on those days).

I take my daughter, and my son before her, and soon to be my youngest son to Westside Kid's Day Out. Depending on your daughters age in the fall they only offer 4 year old preschool and you have to be 4 by the first day of school (I think). It is a 1/2 day program T, W, Th with the option of full day on Wednesday only. I can't remember the exact cost because i have a kid in the once a week Kids day out program as well, but I think with both the KDO, preschool and extended day it's $210 or something close. It is on Santa Fe just West of K-7 so depending on where you live it may be too far, but we have had a good experience there. It is a Nazarene churh and they do Bible stories, and learn sign language, as well as a Spring program for parents to come watch. It has been good for all my kids.

My daughter is going to The Schoolhouse. They are really great there and my daughter loves it. The teachers there are wonderful. They offer afternoon and morning classes as well as three days a week or two days a week. Our babysitter recomended this preschool to us and I am very pleased.

The schoolhouse preschool in Olathe is a great preschool. They are not affiliated with any particular church, but they do pray before snack etc. My 5 year old stepson currently attends there and he loves it. They are very experienced and have a wonderful staff. They are currently enrolling so if you are interested you can check them out on Mamasource.
