Hi moms. My son (who's almost 5) loves his Bible Book called "My Good Night Bible". I read to him every night before bed and he usually requests this book. I want to get him an additional Bible Book and am wondering which ones you and your children love (or ones that you wouldn't recommend). What I love about the one that he has is that at the end of each "story" there are some questions for them to answer about it, a prayer for the day, and a Bible word that really gets them thinking. He's really looking forward to getting a new book (and so am I) so any recommendations you can give me are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Concorida Publishing House has a series of paperback rhyming Bible stories that are wonderful. They are not one big book, but a separate (bedtime story length) stand a lone story in each one. They are "Arch Books".

My kids enjoyed them alot, and we found them to be accurate biblically speaking. Here is a link to the entire set, but you can also buy them individually through the same website. For individual books, they run about $2.50 a piece. So you can pick and choose which stories you want and add to the collection as you go, if you so choose.

When the girls were little I got a Bedtime Bible and they loved it. It was short stories and prayers. I actually picked them up at the Dollar Tree. When I was teaching Sunday School I went to the Dollar Tree and used these same Bibles as gifts for Birthdays and the Mom's just loved them.

My kids and I loooove the "My First Message" Bible. It is actually The Message translation in kids language, for ages 4-8. At the end of every story there is a practical idea/game/craft to do that helps reinforce the meaning of the story with your child. We have read it through a couple of times and in fact right now it's sitting on my desk b/c the binding needs to be fixed. :-)
(published by Navpress if that helps you search for it)

The Begginers Bible is my sons favorite! He will be 5 in September and we love reading this one together. He even brings it with him to church every Sunday and Wednesday. It has larger print so he can easily follow the words with me. It also is brilliantly illustrated and has all the stories in a short, easy to read format. You should definetly consider this one, Kai, my son, and I will think your son will love it!

If there is a Christian Book Store near you I would check it out, that way you can see the various different kinds and he/you can pick out one that would fit what you are looking for.

Here are a few we have:
--The Picture Bible for Little People by Kenneth N. Taylor
(this one has half page story w/question as well as what part of the Bible the story came from) your son might be pass this one, but it would be an additional one to add to your collection

--Little Vists for Toddlers by Mary Manz Simon
(this is a simple devotion/activity type book, with a Bible verse, song and prayer, also a note to parents to expand on the devotion)

--A Child's First Bible by Kenneth N Taylor
(this is a Bible story, with question and where the story was taken from in the Bible)

--We also have a 'Hear Me Read' Bible series with different Bible stories that a young child easily read.... by Mary Manz Simon through Concordia Publishing House (my daughter loves these because she can read them)

We have many others but those are the ones I can find off hand :)
