i was wondering dumb question but if there was any real way to tell if your baby will be early or not? i know i am nearing the end of a long pregnancy, having completed and graduated college to taking care of a 18 month old after 8 hours of school 5 days a week. I just feel like i am nearing the end... I am not due til sept 13th, i am pregnant with a lil girl. my son was two days late, but i never felt him as much as i feel her....obviously i wont hope that she is earlier and term, but are the last 2 weeks really necessary lol..the weather has been gastly and hot and we only have on ac in our bedroom.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone who has responded. Yes I know I am being silly and just am so over being pregnant. I am 5'2" and have a very short torso so I am feeling everything so much more right now. I know I don't want her to come before she is good and ready partly because I am not ready myself!! We have been in the midst of home projects whch seem to always start when I am really pregnant and nobody let's me help which bugs cuz I hate sitting around and loafting. Although this pregnancy has been a lot diff than being pregnant and working 45 hours a week with my son before. My feet and legs get more heavy now it must be due tot he weather and amount of water I'm taking in lol. We do go swimming every day about in our neighborhpod pool for atleast an hour. After that it gets to be too much for me to take on by myself with our son.

I just wanted you to know that I hear you. My son is 17 months old and I'm due in mid Sept. as well. It's been 90+ here for the last 3 weeks. Ug. No wonder summer pregnancies get so much sympathy...

I always hear that babies will come when they're ready.

Enjoy this time taking care of just ONE little one. Soon enough, you'll have two little ones and a lot more work on your plate.

The longer she can stay, unless it is passed time, the better.........with that said, are you absolutely sure when you got pregnant? If the Dr. as measured and done all the right things, they are probably pretty close to time..........

My first one came right on the day I knew he would..........the second was due at the end of Dec..........he came on the 13th.......so she will come when she is ready.

My advice.........get some good fans, popsicles......you know the cheap ones that are ice flavored.......put water in the freezer to use for a cool compress and a nice cold drink when it start thawing out......and take care...

congrats to you.....and good luck

You have an 18 month old so I don't need to tell you that children rarely do things on our timetable - they do them when they're darn good and ready *laugh*.

All joking aside, because I know the end gets tough, just hang on in there - it'll be over before you know it and then you can enjoy your new baby.

don't rush it!! I have a 9, 6, 3, now 2 1/2 month old and also only AC in our bedroom... It is easier to keep yourself cool than to keep yourself cool and baby warm/cool enough... Baby is gonna want to be held and cuddled and when your hot and sweaty and they are sweaty and unhappy it makes life LOTS harder on mamma!! :-)
All 4 of mine were 2 weeks over and induced... They will come when they are ready...

AC is great but at this time icy cold water and a bucket of ice are your best friend.

Sip on tall of water icy cold water. First fill the glass with ice, add water, then you may need to add more ice. Stir to get water colder and sip. Very cooling and refreshing.

A bucket of ice is good for keeping ice cubes which can be used to suck on or rub on the insides of your wrists for keeping you cooler.

I hope these tips help to keep you a little cooler while you are waiting for your precious bun in the oven to get done. :-)

I can completely understand where you're at. With my son I was nearing the end of my pregnancy with the end of winter, so you'd think that would be awesome right? Nope. Everyone had heat full blast and I was sweating constantly, uncomfy because I was so big, had horrible heartburn and wasn't sleeping well. I ended up going in at 38 1/2 weeks naturally (I actually think they were off on my due date and I was right on time closer to 40).

There's no way you can tell really. You can start going for little walks once you're to term and if your body is ready it will help. Plus it will give you something to do. Go in the evenings with the stroller so it isn't so hot. It will also get your 18 month old to settle down a bit before bed.

Most doctors will deliver a baby anytime after 36/37 weeks with little complications. My first daughter was born 2 weeks early...yah!! She was born July 21st and I was happy...summer is a hard time to be pregnant so hang in there...I would reccommend watermelon, smoothies, icees, juice boxes etc...they really helped me stay hydrated and cool!!

I can empathize... I am almost 29 weeks pregnant with my third and I'm already wishing I was closer to my due date. My first two were born in May and June so I have no prior experience with summer pregnancy. We also only have A/C in our bedroom. I was fine up until just this past week and suddenly the heartburn has kicked in, my back is starting to hurt, I can barely sleep laying down (last night I actually slept on our couch which reclines so I could be sitting up). We just came back from vacation and one thing that was amazing was going swimming - my body felt light as air while I was in the water so you might try that.

I don't think there's any way you can tell if your baby will be early just based on how you feel. I was CERTAIN my son was going to be early because I had problems with bleeding and contractions throughout the pregnancy and was put on bed rest 3 times. In the end I was induced!

I'd say just keep busy, try to stay cool, go get a massage if you can and try to relax. Definitely easier said than done.

I feel your pain! I had my daughter in August and son in September, but my OB told me babies will follow the same trend if the first is early the second will be early, if the first was late, the others will be late too. Not trying to be a party pooper, but my daughter was over as was my son, I was enduced for both. Keep your feet up and have lots of popsicles! Beth wishes on your new arrival!
