Hello Girls,
I am a mom of 3 I had my tubes tied after my daughter in 2007 Recently I have been suffering from a lot of anxiety and more so prior to my period I get shaky nervous dizzy bloating abd cramping I have some ovarian cysts which my MD says are fine He is saying I should consider the pill to control these symptoms, has anyone gone on the pill for these reasons? and if so has it helped? I was never on the pill in my life and I am a bit scared of the side effects but I cant stand these pre menstrual symptoms some months are worse than others. This week my abd cramping was so bad I could hardly stand I think it was due to a small cyst that burst. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks

What can I do next?

I did have this experience - My doctor put me on BC although I was reluctant - my symptoms were so bothersome I did try it.

I had side effects and I did not feel it helped me. At that time I became responsible for my own health. I read & read & read. Then I made dietary changes and supplemented. I want to caution you regarding the B-12 recommendation - B vitamins are awesome and should be taken in a balanced complex formula only.

First I would start with a good multi-vitamin. I have a general health presentation link on my website www.nosickvisits.com entitled Got Health? This will give you good general information.

I have specific woman calls available and I would be happy to direct you to them if you contact me through my site.

You are young and will likely menstruate for years to come - give you body what it needs - don't medicate symptoms away ie. BC

I was on the pill years ago specifically to prevent pregnancy, and in the process discovered the pleasant benefits of no cysts, minor cramping and scant menstrual bleeding. The emotional symptoms of PMS, however, seemed to get worse. They may be worth a try to allay your physical symptoms if they adversely affect your quality of life. For the emotional symptoms, there's nothing better than old-fashioned exercise and a change in diet. Cut back (or eliminate entirely) caffeine and sugar and drink lots of water. Those changes alone will reduce your bloating, shakiness and irritability.

Have you tried making dietary changes for this? Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds comprise the best PMS proof diet. The fiber will help escort excess estrogen out of your body. Prior to your period, you should avoid meat so that everything you eat will flow through you faster. Dandelion root tea which can be sweetened with maple syrup or raw honey acts as a diuretic and greatly reduces bloating as well. Limit salt so that you retain less water. Try to get iron rich legumes and even black strap molasses can help you feel strong. Making sure you get enough omega-3 fatty acids can also help prevent blood stagnation which can contribute to the problem. Flax seeds, walnuts, beans, olive oil or a fish oil capsule contain omega-3s. I would do everything you can with your diet, see if it works and then resort to medical treatment like the pill. Just some suggestions...I am a nutrition counselor and help others avoid medicine when it is not necessary. (This is not to be construed as medical advice) Best luck,

At age 33, I'd be nervous, too. Have you tried supplementing your B-12? It can really help. The commercial vitamins are good only if they are food-based, and not a chemical factory copy. A health food store could help you find a good brand. Food sources are raw dairy and raw (or rare) grass-fed meats. I'm in NJ, and raw milk can't be sold here, though there are sources in PA. I get raw milk cheeses at my local Shop-Rite (Organic Valley brand). Try a massive B-12 buildup before you try the pill!

well i have endometriosis. one of the symptoms is severe cramping. and i mean severe. the week before, and the week during, i probably died a hundred times a month. i can't describe the pain, but to just give you an idea, i was taking motrin every hour or 2 hours to survive, not relieve the pain. my ob recommended i go on a pill. i was not thrilled and it scared me. but i had to. so i have been on a pill for 2 years now, maybe a little more and i can tell you i have not had those cramps ever again. i still get antsy, nervous all that but no cramps. two years later i still get scared the week before my period is due because of trauma caused by years of that sort of condition.
so to answer your question, pill helped with my cramping. yes, i understand your fear of the unknown as i had it too, and not every pill will work for you. i am on the 2nd type and this one seems best for me. so, give it a shot. it can only help.
good luck

Hi D.,

Yes, I went on the pill to help the ovaian cysts. This was years and years ago. I didn't like the side effects of the pill, however mild and I thought being on the pill was so un-natural. I just wondered what it could be doing to me. I later found out that it is just not good for the body and causes problems down the road. Long story short, I went off the pill and cleaned up my diet and started taking suppliments. All the cysts went away. Check out www.westonaprice.org or gapsdiet.com for information on a healthy diet. Oh, any PMS that I had went away once my body was healthy and fuctioning properly.

I mentioned this to a on-line friend who had trouble with ovarian cysts. She changed her diet and the cysts were gone in about a month.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Blessings,

Before you try chemicals, try vitamins. Magnesium helps to regulate hormone levels, thus eliviating pms. Try it a couple months, what have you got to lose. If it doesn't help you can try something else. But try natural before you try chemical.

I find myself in the same situation but I am 10 years older so I'm not thrilled at the idea of taking the pill at my age. I wonder if the severe cramping the week before and during my period has anything to do with my tubes being tied. I never had these issues before I had my tubes tied.
