Pre-made Scrapbooks

Since I enjoy scrapbooking, I'm thinking of making some pre-made scrapbooks (various themes) and selling them on eBay. I just want to make sure there is a demand for such a thing. I have checked out other listings but most of the sellers sell one layout (2 pages) and not an album. I just want some feedback to see if Moms ever consider buying pre-made scrapbooks. Any ideas and/or suggestions? Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everybody who responded. I just completed the first pre-made scrapbook, "Baby Girl". I do plan on listing it on eBay tonight and hopefully it will get a good response. Thanks again and Happy Scrapbooking!

I think its a great idea, I considered buying one fr Hallmark but it was $50! Instead I made my own with similar themes, but I like scrapbooking myself. I have friends who don't have the patience and would rather buy one pre-made.

I think scrapbooks are very cute, but DO NOT have the time or inclination to put one together. At a friends baby shower, she was given a pre-made book by a girlfriend. It included pages for the first year including holidays, friends, birth, family, baptism etc.

Everyone there (most of us young moms) was totally jealous. I could certainly see there being a demad.

Why don't you just start by making one, and if you are happy wiht the response, make another. If it becomes something you really think you can make money at, then start making more at once.

HTH,
T.

I agree-- maybe make a few and see how you like them. You could also look on etsy.com and see if anyone else is making/selling them.. then you could get an idea of the demand and the price. I think this would be great-- like those baby books where there were places to fill in "first word" and "first tooth" and stuff like that-- only you could dress it up and leave places for standard sized pictures. Good luck!

Hi K.,
Sounds like a fantastic idea. I am due to give birth soon and would love to buy one of these books from you once you have them available. For those of us who are not creative, a premade scrapbook would be ideal so we can put all our memoirs together in one place. Yes, I think there is definitely a market out there.
Good luck with your adventure.

I think it's a great idea! I don't have the time (or creative inclination) to scrapbook, but I love the ones my friends create for their kids.

I would think that if a client gives you a topic (let's say family vacations) that you should be able to create pages that they can add pictures to.

How expensive is this endeavor? I would be interested in keeping in touch with you and discussing this issue.
Thanks!
C.

I would TOTALLY buy that since I just can't get myself to do it and my mom keeps guilt tripping me about the fact that SHE made a scrapbook for my first, second, AND third years and I am obviously depriving my daughter : )

I love scrapbooking myself but just don't have the time...I like the idea...check out shutterfly they do pages but are not home made...that is the difference...they are very expensive too. Maybe, albums with themes..(example for children age 0-3 which would include from birth to 3rd. birthday...special events etc..for these 3 yrs). Another, album for kids a little older or even a wedding book....a vacation theme...the trick is and something to think about do you pre-arrange the spot for the pictures...this makes it difficult because some of us like to cutt alot off and others don't I like to make the choice and not have an area pre-set for me. Great idea..cost would also be a factor will the time and effort be worth the money (any profit)I would be willing to spend $50 on a book like this but probably not more unless I saw it in person. Hi K.,
I would think there is a good market for this kind of thing. I am a Creative Memories Consultant and have had numerous people ask me if I would scrapbook their photos for them. I tell them no, but that I could teach them a quick and easy way for them to learn to do it themselves. They just don't seem interested, even if it's quick and easy. Maybe if you had predone books and all they had to do was adhere their photos, they would take advantage of that product. Themes I've been asked to do were music and travel. Hope this helps. Sincerely, L. L.

that souns like a great idea for those of us who just have the time to put in the pictures and not the creativity to do the rest.

You can look on the website for Creative Memories www.mycmsite.com/moirathompson, she has semi premade scrapbooks and also can do a hardcover story book. There are many different layouts, all beautiful. Everything is of very nice quality and easy to put together, there definitely is a demand for them.

My sister-in-laws friends made her one for her baby shower. It has all the 1st time things in (bath, tooth, food, step, etc) and she loves it! She talked about it for months after. She made a good point, when you're at home with a new born you don't have time to work on one of those and by the time all the first have past you have a stack of pictures and a toddler running around and no time again.
Keep me posted on when you put them on the market, I'll be interested.
