Potty Suggestions

I have a 17 month old daughter that has been telling us “poo poo”. I usually check her diaper thinking she pooped and wants to be cleaned, but there is usually nothing in the diaper. About 15 or 20 minutes later she will go! This happens at least once every other day. Could she really be telling us that she has to go Poo Poo? She says potty and comes in w/ me…I think she is starting to understand the concept. Does anyone have any recommendations for a child’s potty chair? I have been online and the BabyBjorn Potty gets good reviews. She is our first, and I don’t know where or what to begin looking for in a potty chair or training. Help!

What can I do next?

I just got one of those cushy kid seats that you put on your regular toilet seat. My son used it and still does (he's 4) and my daughter is now using it (she's 20 months old).

We bought the seats that just attached to our current seat, because our son didn't have any interest in the training toilet we bought. They flip up for when we want to use the bathroom. However, I wouldn't spend the money. Just put her on the toilet seat backwards (facing the tank). They can balance, by grabbing the seat, if they need to.

Hi Angie
Yes she is really telling you she needs to poo poo. My son started potty traing around 18 months and was completley potty trained by 2. We just let him run around the house in just a t-shirt(for about a week until he started telling me he needed to go) and I would take him to the bathroom every hour. We had a potty chair in the living room(where he played most) so if he needed to go he could and a little seat on the toliet for him when I took him. Good Luck

It sounds like she is getting the concept, so go ahead and start having her sit when she says poo poo.

As for the potty chair, she may not like the first one you get so i wouldn't invest too much money in it. Just go to walmart or target and look at their seletion, you want one that is easy to clean and portable (you may have to hail it to grandmas or where ever else) We used a potty ring with my son and had to take it everywhere b/c for a while he would only use his ducky potty.

Good luck
