My son is now 11 months old and I still have bad stretch marks. I only have 5 lbs to lose to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight but they are still pretty bad. Is there anything i can do to help minimize them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

That is kind of what I figured, they are just so unsightly i thought I would check.

I have them really bad, too. I pregnant with baby #3 right now and decided not to do anything until I was all done having children. My sister does laser hair removal and asked if they had anything for stretch marks. They have a microderm treatment with creams that they use and they say the results are really good. I'd be curious to see someone who has had it done. I know that they use mederma in the treatment so you might want to try that. If you would like the number for where she goes I can get that for you. She raves about the people and the laser hair removal.

My sister had horrible stretch marks from having two babies and she also tried Pentaxyl and had amazing results. They almost disappeared completely. I have before and after pictures if you are interested in looking at them. It's pretty amazing. My email is ____@____.com luck on your stretch marks.

My sister-in-law's sister had amazing results with a product called Pentaxyl. I've seen the before and after photos and there was a significant improvement.

There are products that can minimize the APPEARANCE of stretch marks, but according to everything I read and heard from doctors, only surgical procedures can get rid of them. Since they are caused by the actual tearing of the middle layer of skin, lotions and creams cannot get rid of them.
This Wikipedia link actually explains it all very well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretch_marks

There are about a billion products out there... depends on what you want to spend. Over time the color will fade more, and they'll probably get smaller with a little more weight loss (depends on the location of the marks). Just some lovely reminders of the mircle of reproduction!! HA!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but although they will fade, they will never go away, it takes a least a year for the fading to start. When my daughter was fourteen months old, I started seeing my current husband, he thought I wore elastic pants, and my stretch marks were the marks from them. Imagine that embarrasment. The good news is if you have a lot of them and have subsequent children, you probably won't get anymore. I have been told that even Demi Moore has stretch marks, so you are in good company. Cocoa Butter is supposed to help but I never saw any improvement. Good Luck

Dear A.,
Stretchmarks are a right of passage, welcome to the club! Dont be embarressed. I never did anything to treat my stretchmarks. I think that trying lotions or creams that claim to minimize or reduce the appearance of stretchmarks may be helpful, but you have to consider the cost. As far as laser removal... Please! How vain can a person be about their appearance? Learn to be accepting of them and remember the miricle in which they came to "affect" your body. Practice your self-esteem and remember that beauty is only skin deep as well as in the eye of the beholder. Have patience, they may never go away. Dont let the beauty inside of you be disrupted by outward appearance.
