Portable Dvd Players

I am traveling on a plane by myself soon with my 21M son and was thinking of purchasing a portable DVD player, he LOVES his Baby Einstein videos! The two of us have flown at least 5 times already, the most recent being when he was 16M, the saving factor was a direct flight. He is VERY active, so I thought the DVD player could be a mommy saver! Any suggestions on this or on good/reliable brands of portable DVD players??

What can I do next?

Do they allow you to use them on planes? I haven't been on a plane in years so I have no idea. I bought ours at Walmart. It wasn't the cheapest but wasn't the most expensive either. I forget what brand it us but can check if you'd like. I keep it in the car but when I bring my son to work with me we bring it inside and plug it in the wall outlet to save battery time. It's great. My son is 3 1/2 and it's definately safer driving for me with the dvd player keeping him occupied. Good luck and if you'd like info on mine I can get it, just email me back. I would definately check with the airlines to make sure they allow them, unless you know already.

I can't remember what brand it was but there was a portable DVD player on sale at Walgreen's yesterday for $99!! Since he's tiny, and it could be dropped, etc., a good idea might be to get a cheaper one first.

Hi! I bought a very reasonably priced Polaroid 7" with swivel screen at Target several months ago. It's been wonderful! I have a 21-month-old myself, and she loves it in the car! I like the swivel screen because it can fold back on itself to fit in one of those small behind-the-headrest cases. I've never had any probelms with it, and my daughter accidentally kicks it from time to time, too! :)

Hi J.. I have a portable dvd player and it has been a life saver! The one I have is an Apex. I would NOT advise this brand though. The battery does not stay charged. It is a couple of years old, but I would go with a different brand!! Hope this helps!!! Oh and they do allow them on planes, at least they did in 2005. Make sure you get some headphones though.
