I was blessed to recieve a free unused Play Station One video system. We are so happy because my 4 year old son really wanted a video game system. My question is this...can you still purchase games for PS1? And are they still making new games for PS1? The generous friend is also giving me 11 children's games (my son will be SO happy!!). For a 4 year old, I think this is the perfect introduction to a video game system but want to know if we will still be able to purchase games. Does anyone have older boys and know the whole video system scoop???

Also if you are an Ebayer, you can find tons of video games for the oldest of systems. When my daughter was four we got her an original Nintendo since we felt the Xbox and newer systems were way too advanced for her. We have found many games off of Ebay since GameStop doesn't carry games that dated anymore.
Sure you can. Go to a Gamestop, and they sell ps1 used games.

I had my old PS from college and when my son was about 4, hooked it up for him. He loved it; he still plays with it (though Santa may be bringing him the upgrade this year). It should work for your son til he's old enough to play with friends who have the new stuff, then he'll likely want something else; my son's almost 9, so you should get some good use out of it.
They do not make new games for it; however, most GameStop stores will sell used PS games (which is great cause most of the games are 5 bucks or less now; I got Tomb Raider again for 4 bucks!)....

You can get used games for the PS1 at Gamestop, GameCrazy, or most pawn shops.
Gamestop will even assist you in repair should anything happen to it. They have online selections and in store goodluck
