I could really use some help here. I have a very active 18m. daughter and haven't lived here very long to know about play-groups. I am a SAHM so I haven't had an opportunity to really make any friends that have small children either, they are all older. Is there anyone out there with some info. for us? We really need to socialize with other people besides family! Thanks!

There is a Mother's & More Chapter in Dover. We have weekly playgroups (by age) at member's homes. We also have activities for mom's, children and families. Check out out website at www.delmoms.org.
Also, you can contact Parents As Teachers (Carmen Gallagher at ###-###-####). The program provides free Stay & Plays. I think they have one in Milford.

I'm co-leader of the local chapter of a national organization called Mothers & More. We offer playgroups that are age-specific and multi-age as well as activities and events that are child-friendly and for moms only. For moms, we have monthly meetings, moms nights out, craft club, book club, wellness club (children may attend this one, too). We also do a couple of community outreach activities each year, offer a monthly newsletter and a short-term meal program for moms when needed (new baby arrival, surgery, etc). Not everyone on this loop is in M&M, but I guess a lot of us are! So I will agree with Traci and Della Sue. Most of us a a little north of you, but we have moms as south as Greenwood. I came to DE not knowing anyone and it saved me!! I have an almost 3 yr old and a 16 month old as well.
On the Stay and Plays, they have dropped the one in Milford, they are in Dover (on 13 by KMart) and at PolyTech (off 13 in Camden area at the HS). They are FREE and great!! If you need more info, just contact me.

I live in the Ellendale area and also stay home, I found this website in hopes of finding a playgroup/friends for myself as well as my children. (3yrs and 11 months) My husband works crazy hours too. I understand. I have lived here most of my life but my friends work and kids go to daycare. So, I really don't interact with many people and I am starting to go a bit stir crazy. I am a hair stylist and I have my own business, I work one night a week. My shop is at my parents house in Georgetown so they take care of my children so I can work for 2-3 hours. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and I agree they aren't the best play mates. Just let me know if you would like to talk some time!
