Perfect Monitor?

I would love to get your feedback on what you would consider to be the perfect baby monitor. For example, I would love if they manufactured a monitor that would "stick" anywhere. I keep struggling with mine..putting it on top of lampshades...etc.
What would your ideal monitor be/have?
Thanks!

I have 4. (FIL is in the business, so he just gives them to us to test).

1 is Graco, and it's TERRIBLE.
Other 3 are Safety First. Two of those are video and the battery life is *ok*. I can get about 4-5hrs out of them with video.
The non video one is pretty awful.

So overall, I think my preference is video monitors. They seem to be made better.

I have the summer B&W flat screen monitor and love it! We mounted the camera above the crib and the flat screen travels with us down stairs during the day and back up next to our bed at night. The monitor is great because we got to see the first time he stood/sat up. I have taken a lot of really cute videos of my son dancing in bed and this year Santa Claus left him a Tinker Bell doll in his crib and the reaction was priceless and again caught on camera. There is a button on top that let's you shut off the picture at night and turn it right back on if you hear something you want to check. It was one of my favorite baby gear items that we purchased.

We have the Summer Day & Night Color Monitor and while it is very far from "perfect" it's pretty good. We wanted something that was easily mounted on the wall over the crib and with a smaller screen that could be moved room-to-room.

The quality of the picture is excellent, however we have replaced the monitor twice. We purchased our three years ago and they have made several upgrades since then and we'll likely buy their flatscreen "touch" monitor the next time around! We still use this when my son is napping so we can keep an eye on our "big boy" and make sure he's really sleeping and not playing in his room!

I wouldn't worry about the "color" component and we never really used the portable handset b/c the monitor worked well throughout our home and even outside.

**We used the 3M hooks to hang the camera so we wouldn't have to nail it to the wall***

We have the Angel Care Deluxe Motion Monitor... I didn't have it with my first 2 kids, but now that we've had it with the 3rd, I would never recommend anything else. It doesn't have a camera, but honestly, with camera monitors you're still getting up to check to see if baby is breathing, and this thing will let you know if baby's not!! It's the best money I think I've ever spent... peace of mind is PRICELESS.

We have the Philips AVENT DECT Baby Monitor with Temperature Sensor. No video capabilities but a GREAT monitor. Crystal clear sound, great range & battery life, secure, compact. No regrets, some of the best money we have spent.

we also have the angel care motion monitor. it has a pad that goes under mattress that senses the baby's breathing. if detects no motion for 30 secs alarm goes off. we originally got it because our daughter was a preemie and had apnea monitor when first came home. when the apnea went away, the doc took her off monitor but we were a little freaked. this monitor gave us such peace of mind. even though we didnt have to worry about apnea after awhile, its especially nice when your child has a cold and sometimes has trouble breathing. i got my sister one for her shower and she loves it. never had to worry about the apnea thing like us but it really gives you peace of mind.
