Pediatrician or GP in SW Mpls Area or Surrounding Suburbs

My kids go to Southdale Pediatrics, but we are rarely able to see the same doctor. All of the docs have been fine, but I would like something more personal. I am hoping someone knows of a clinic or doctor/or nurse practitioner that gets to know patients a little bit and is open-minded. I am open to pediatrican, GP, nurse practitioner, etc. Right now I think we would be getting better health care if my kids were able to see providers who knew them better. We live in SW Mpls and ideally would find a provider that is within a 5-10 mile radius. We have no preference in terms of a providers age, gender, race, etc.

What can I do next?

Hi M. -

I take my kids to Park Nicollet in St. Louis Park. I really like Stephanie Lindberg. She is an NP. I saw most of the Peds and NPs in that office before I found her. We have been seeing her for about 2 and half years. I think she listens well and is very understanding. She has three children herself...both boy and girl and I think her kids are all 10 and under. Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

I would suggest Metro Pediatrics. They have an office in Edina, Burnsville and Shakopee. I take my daughter to the Shakopee location. For all of her regular check ups it has been fairly easy to get the same Dr. everytime, Dr. O'Laughlin. Sometimes she is not available and she sees Dr. Johansen but I am usually able to get her in with her regular doctor and the staff is really great and understanding about the need of the parent to have a consistent doctor attending thier child. Good Luck!

We go to the Fairview Children's Clinic up on University. We see Dr. Janelle Dailey and love her. The clinic is super convenient with extended hours on weekdays and open Saturdays and they reserve a chunk of time for same day appointments. We have always gotten Dr. Dailey for our scheduled well baby check-ups with no problem and most of our last minute appointments for illnesses have been with her too. She is a mom of three little ones so she has mom experience and is so easy to talk to, we never feel rushed and she is open-minded.

I live in south Mpls. but we go to Children's Clinic in St. Paul. It's right next to United/Children's Hospitals. We have been going there for nearly six years and love it! I have also heard good things about the Mpls. clinic - next to Mpls. Children's/Abbott Northwestern Hospitals.

good luck!

Thats too bad. I agree its very important to see the same dr to have a more personal feeling and to know that your child's doctor knows his/her history. I have 2 kids that go to southlake pediatics since birth. They love dr segedy and have seen him for all of their well check ups, unless we need easy care. I only make appts with him and have never had an issue getting an appt with him. Sometimes to see the same dr you may have to make an appt at a different office, but i don't know if thats convenient for you. It works for us as we're inbetween the plymouth and maple grove offices.

Hi -- a friend of mine highly recommended Dr. Hobbs also at Pediatric Services in St. Louis Park (www.pspa.md)

I met him before our baby was born...liked the clinic and their philosophy. Definitely sounds like a fit for what you're looking for. He was sure to tell me that he returns all calls from his patients but to know that it may not be until the end of the day. Their focus is the same doctor as much as possible. We ultimately decided on Southdale Peds because of the convenience factor for getting same day appts, evenings, etc but really felt this would have been an excellent place as well. My friend could not stop raving about him...her son did end up having to see a different doc over the weekend or something (ears) but Dr. Hobbs called her on Monday when he saw that her son had been in.

Good luck! J.

Hi M.!
I know this probably isn't as close as you'd like, but there is a great pediatric office in St. Louis Park just off of 100 and Minnetonka Blvd. It's called Pediatric Services. We took our then 7 month old, now 4 year old, there when we first moved back from Atlanta in 2005. Our doc was Sue Daniels who we loved to death, but unfortunately she has since moved to Montana. While she is not available, all of the other physicians we saw were wonderful! I know that some of them have been repeated voted "Best Pediatrician" in the annual Minnesota Monthly polls. We never felt rushed, the staff always knew who we were from 1 visit to the next. It's a small office with a really good feel to it. We loved it!

We have since moved to Plymouth and with 2 little ones the trek just was too much. We've found a great provider at the Partners in Pediatrics here but I'm guessing that is WAY to far to travel.

Good luck with your search - I know how important it is to find the right provider!

I love Fairview Uptown Clinic. We've been going there for years, and now all four of us have the same doctor. There's one doctor there that I would avoid like the plague, but the rest are absolutely terrific. It is the kind of place where you get personal attention.

I have been going to Fairview Uptown Clinic for over 16 years! In that time frame I have gotten married and had two kids. We all go to Fairview Uptown now. My kids and I see Dr. Christine Wesley (family practice). She has been a great doctor for all of us. She is kind, caring and has great bedside mannor. I would have to say at least 99% of the time I get in when I want and with Dr. Wesley.

M.,
We see Kristin Radtke (sp?) at Park Nicolett in St. Louis Park. She also has one particular nurse practictioner that she works with (cannot think of her name). We see Kristin one time, then the NP the next. I'm super happy with both. Kristin is a bit of a naturalist, but she is still a doctor, so it's sort of the best of both worlds for us. When my son's been sick, he hasn't always seen either one of them, but I know that if he were really sick they'd be involved. But they've been there for all his well baby checks and I'm excited to have Kristin be our pediatrition with our next baby due in Sept!
Good luck,
Amy K
