I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and live in Cordova, but work downtown. We're trying to find a daycare in the midtown/downtown area. I'm looking at a few and wondered if anyone has an opinion on any of these.

Foreign Language Immersion Childcare Center (Harbor Town)
Calvary Episcopal (2nd St)
UT Child Care (Jefferson)
Lindenwood Christian Child Care Center (Union)
A Childrens Center at Shering Plough (Jackson)

If anyone has other suggestions for other daycares for infants in this area, please let me know!

So What Happened?

My baby is going to Bright Ideas Enrichment Center in Bartlett temporarily. We hope to transfer him to UT's Daycare by the end of summer.

My 12-month-old has been at UT for a year, and my other child went to pre-K there. I have been really happy with the teachers and the program. You need to get on the list ASAP - right now Infant I isn't full, but who knows in 6 months!

I have not used Lindenwood Child Care but have used their summer camp and afterschool care. Those programs are excellent and I highly recommend them, and I have heard very good things about the child care.

Just wanted to chime in and say that Lindenwood is an excellent program that has a long waiting list, some lists are longer depending on the age of the child you are placing in the program. A grat alternative, that was suggested by Lindewood staff is the Union Baptist Church Program that is across the street from Ike's on Union. Very well staffed, wonderful program. My best Friend's 3 year old has been there a year, and wouldn't change a thing!

Good Luck.

I've heard good things from people who've put their children in the Harbor Town Language Immersion program and the Lindenwood Center. No knowledge of the other programs. Lindenwood is difficult to get in to.

A Childrens Center is nationaly ranked and Lindenwood is also an incredible program. For most of the options you listed, you need to get on their roles immediately, their spaces fill up way in advance. Good luck!

Hi, my little boy was in the infant room at Calvary in 2004. Overall the experience was positive. The staff was friendly, security was tight, the meals provided (for older infant/toddlers) were healthy, and interaction between staff and parents was good. The only drawback was that the infant rooms are small (except for the main center room)and consequently, a little bit cluttered. You should definitely drop in and have a look and you need to go ahead and put your name on the waiting list because I was on the list for 10 months before a spot opened up.

Hope that helps,

L.

edited to say: also, if you work downtown (like I used to) it was great to have my son there where I could drop in and visit him at lunch!
