Okay Mommas! Let's Talk About Boobies!

Hi there ladies! I need some advice on Boobies!

I am a believer in bodies being beautiful and that natural is a good thing, but I recently looked at my post-baby boobies and I am having a really hard time finding any thing beautiful about these sad little saggy sacs I have. I want to teach my daughter to be self confident and happy with her self no matter what, so the idea of plastic surgery has never been a serious consideration for me......That said, here is my story:

I nursed my DD for a year. Before pregnancy I was a 34B/C depending upon my weight. When I had her I reached a 36F - I had some big girls! After nursing I went down to a 36C - but I think I still had all of the stretched out skin, so they were just saggy bags. Recently I lost 20 extra pounds I had been carrying and I am now a 36B as much as I can tell, but it is mostly skin and now my entire boobs hang below their bottom crease. I am fairly fit and I just noticed the other day that my boobs hang below my pecs so much now that there is actually a dip below my pecs/above by breast tissue.

All I could say was YUCK!

I have 10 pounds left to loose to reach my goal but I am afraid that I will have nothing but skin left where I once had nice breasts and that they will reach my bellybutton by the time I am 40. I was complaining to my husband and he asked if I was to the point of needing to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss lifts or implants or if I just wanted to keep complaining about it. I reluctantly said I wanted a consultation to learn more.

Also....I will not be having any more children. And I have tried Victoria's Secret bras to push things up into place, but there is so much skin that I get wrinkles at the top and what I describe as muffin top of the boobs because I get a roll over the top after bending over.

I need advice, experiences, constructive thoughts! All info will be considered and appreciated!
And for those of you who are pro surgery, I may need some recommendations for doctors in the Sacramento area.

What can I do next?

Before I was pregnant I was a solid 34/36C. After breastfeeding #1 I shrunk a little bit and was squeshy for awhile but firmed back up again (not quite to normal) prior to #2 baby. After baby number 2 while breast feeding I was a D cup and after I finished 8 months worth I was lose skinned and flabby again and much smaller. It definitely takes a good year or so to get some firmness back. Now I am a solid 36B and I am pretty happy with my breast. They are not as firm as they were prior to kids, but good enough. Also now that they are smaller I don't think they will hang down as much as I get older. I would give it 1 year. If you still don't feel better or look better then, go get that consultation. Good Luck!

Hi D.!
I have the BEST surgeon to refer you to! His practice is on Coyle Ave next to the hospital and his name is Roy Semlacher. He did my enlargement almost 5 yrs ago and I couldn't be happier. I researched for a couple years before deciding on him. He places them partially under the muscle for a more realistic look and won't do "stripper" boobs. I had it done on a Friday and was back to my desk job on Monday, though he said I was a fast healer. (I had no children at that time, in fact, I got pregnant 3 weeks after surgery after 2 1/2 yrs of trying!) Even after nursing, they are still great. If you want to talk about it, message me and I'll give you my home number. I was even on his referral list for a few years and talked to several women about my experience. Go for it! It was the best thing I ever did!
Sincerely,
L.

I agree that if you are really bothered by them you should by all means check out your options on surgery. However, I think you might want to wait to have anything done at all until you've shed the ten pounds you say you still want to lose, and then wait for a while after you're at your 'ideal' weight to see if they change any. I also think there are exercises you can do to firm them up. You might want to find someone who can help you from that perspective. One more thing, you mention using Victoria's Secret bras, but have you had someone actually fit you for a bra? Most of us, I think, tend to just figure out on our own what size we wear. I remember when I was in high school our home economics teacher took us to a high end fashion shop and the lady there fitted us for bras. It did make a big difference. A well fitted bra won't fix the "extra skin" you say you have, but it might help you feel better about your shape.

Hun, if they are bothering you that much, get them fixed. There is no harm and no foul doing it. Life is too short to be unhappy with your body. You did have some big girls while breast feeding and there is a strong possiblity that they won't shrink back.

BTW-Never say never. I have two teenagers, one of which is developmentally disabled and I am planning on finally having kids with my dh after 15 years of marraige and a TL. My recommendation, wait until you do menopause before you finally decide. You never know what life will throw at you.

Good Luck.
