No Insurance, Need Dentist in Arlington Area

Hello!
I am looking for a recommendation for a dentist for myself, preferably in Arlington. I have not been in many years and have several issues, like gum disease. This is the first time in 4.5 years that I am not pregnant or nursing (so I couldn't take most medications), plus we are getting a decent tax refund so now is the time to finally see a dentist. I have no insurance, and will likely be paying upfront. I have a feeling I will need LOTS of work done.
There is a low-cost non-profit clinic in Arlington but it can take months to get an appointment, if you can even get through, the line is always busy! I am just looking to get this over with, with as little financial pain as possible.
Also, I have heard of those "not insurance" discount plans and wondered if they really work, and how hard it is to find a provider, so if you know anything about those, let me know, thanks!

What can I do next?

Dr. Thomas Whinery in Arlington works with a payment plan through a bank. You get a price from the dentist on how much the work will be, then work with the bank to get 12 months to pay it off with no interest. It's a good deal.
He is a really fabulous dentist. Makes recommendations about the work, but understands financial concerns.

Dr Kent Mach on Brown @ Ascension ###-###-####. He is in an office by himself and does everything one patient at a time. I never wait and he is very very good! I have gone there for 10+ years. His wife runs the office part and they work with you, payments, and insurance (when you have it) very well. Good luck!

Dr. David Cunningham with Mayfield Dental Care. I'm sorry I don't have his number, but he's a great dentist. The office used to do a discount if you paid in cash, but not sure if that's changed.

Good luck!

The dental discount plans do work and there are lots of choices. My mother recently purchased Careington Dental Discount and she saved a considerable amount on her dental work. The beauty of this plan is that it is available immediately upon payment of the premium and you can pay and print your discount card online. You should do your own research and view the sample prices on their web site. You can choose your dentist and then give them a call to discuss the possible savings on this plan.
Hope it works for you.
Also, I work for a great company and we are looking for some new people who are interested in full or part time work. If you are interested it could help you pay for your dental work. Request more information at www.workathomeunited.com/opportunities
