There are many pre-schools and daycares that are now offering the VPK (voluntary pre-k) program. My only advice to you is to shop around and sit in a class for a whole day or just drop in unexpectedly. A lot of these pre-schools look good from the outside and even when talking to the teachers or manager but as to what actually goes on, are quite a different story. I'm not saying that children are getting abused, etc, although that is the case in some unfortunate situations, just that what the children are actually doing throughout the day may not really be what you think they're doing (ie. watching tv, etc). Whomever you're thinking of going with, I suggest you actually sit in the class all day if necessary and shadow your child. And once they're enrolled, drop in unexpectedly. If you don't get the right feel you can always switch.

You can check with an organization called 4C in Orange County, they offer child care financial assistance and also give referrals for child care providers registered with them
http://www.4corlando.org/resources/families/informationRe...

or through the state of florida website- they have info on VPK Voluntary pre-kindergarden and selecting a provider http://familyservicessearch.myflorida.com/list_need.asp?id=6

or my favorite is a search engine through the florida state website that allows you to look at the actual inspection that is done on every licensed daycare in the state you can search all sorts of ways and it gives you an idea on if this place keeps having violations - such things as child to adult ratio, safety issues, etc, being my main concern. That website is

Good luck!

You may want to check out Downey Christian Pre-school. Years ago I sent my oldest daughter there at the age of 3 by the age of 4 they had most children reading. I do not know what they charge but they are located on East Colonial Drive near Dean Road across for Downey Park. J.

Hello

My son just started the pre-k program at kidsrkids it is from 9-12 and you can call the state for the school district or ask the school for the number because the state pays for the school from 9-12 and if you need your daugther to stay longer they have a wrap around program which is 95.00 a week. They are great. They are learning alot. This is acroos from kinder care on alafaya woods. also there is a new school star child on mitchell hammock i don't much about them. Hope this help and if you need anything else. I'm a stay at home mom I also have 2 year daugther so just call me ###-###-####.
