Hi my husband and two daughters moved to Orange County Jan of 2010. The past 4 years we lived in MN in the cold so it is great to be out in the beautiful sunshine! Our girls are 7 and 4 which makes them in 1st grade and preschool. I used this site in MN 4 years ago when we moved out there from Oregon and made some great friends that will alway's be in our lifes. I first signed up thinking I would find some playdates for our girls and prayed that the moms would become my friend as well ha ha. I guess being new to the area I had nothing to loose. My point is.. It would be great to meet some new moms that have kids my kids ages and also would be great to do happy hour or coffee without the kids to get to know one another. I feel it is just as important to have mom time as it is to have kid time!
My husband and I bought a home in Coto de Caza and since being new to the area I thought I would see if anyone else has moved recently and wanted to explore together. I'm a stay at home mom with a husband that travels a lot so I'm pretty open for what ever! Hope to hear from you!
Cheers

All the small communities in this area have a little throw-away local newspaper... If you are use the RSM gate, Pavillions, across Antonio, carries this paper. You could put a little ad in the paper ... "New Mom with (kid ages) looking for mom's and kids to exchange play dates."
Secondly, go online and check out the Mom's Clubs in the area...

My daughter moved to Coto (in the Village) two years ago with kids aged 8, 10, 12... Scooters and bikes are a good way for the kids to peruse the neighborhood on their own (or with you watching/walking). The village has the old tennis club with a small resturant and a great pool... Nearby is a riding stable and the old store which I think may be open... Might meet mom's there if you play tennis??? Eric or Katrina can help you.

Finally, now that the teachers are back to work... my daughter found volunteering for classroom duties helped her keep her eye on each child's classroom (and kids the same age). There is a sports center at Antonio and Empressa that offers various after school classes for the younger set.
My daughter found the families are pretty friendly in Coto... I'm sure you will soon have so many ways to go you won't know what to do first!!!

Welcome to OC! I grew up here (Irvine) and just moved back to Irvine last summer after 14 years in LA. I have a son who will be 3 next month. I love OC and am really happy to be back.

I run a free website for moms called CityMommy. Like mamapedia, it's a great way to meet people and find out about local businesses. It also has upcoming events listed. We plan occasional get togethers, too. I hope you'll check it out! http://oc.citymommy.com

Coto de Caza is really nice. I'm sure you'll meet some great families up there, too.

Try Meetup.com & put in your zipcode. They have every kind of group you can imagine, (mom's, coffee, wine, support, religious etc).

Hi J.,

As a native Oregonian, former Newport Beach resident, and current Midwest resident, I'd like to say congratulations on the big move! I'm so jealous that you get to live in my beloved So Cal.

Meetup is probably a good place to start. I found a great mommy group here through that web site. I hope you make some friends for yourself soon. I put my daughter in a new preschool a few months ago, and I was thrilled that one of the moms recently took the initiative to invite all the other moms and kids for a park play date after school one day. We all got to know each other better and watch how our kids played together. If you have the other moms' e-mail addresses from either of your daughter's schools, maybe you can send everyone an evite.

I hope you hear from another Coto de Caza mom soon!

Lucy
