New Stay Home Mom in Round Rock

We just moved to Texas from CA last August. I have worked all my life raising my 2 teenage boys. I remarried and had one more son (2 next month) and had the opportunity to stay home once we moved to TX. So i am in a new state, in a new state of mind with no idea what to do. What low budget activites are there to do here? We are raising our 3 sons on one income and on a strict budget. Do "Mommy & Me" days exists? The weather makes it a little difficult to hit the park everyday. If i had to splurge on something, would it be more beneficial to me and my family to join the local YMCA or the Recreational Center?
Please help. My little one gets cabin fever very easily and I am starting to go batty sitting in doors all the time.

What can I do next?

We belong to the YMCA in Round Rock and I would suggest signing up! Right now they are waiving the sign up fee and for your family the cost would be $60 a month. It is so worth it! We have been going for a year now and the kids love it and so do we! They watch your kids for up to two hours a day so you could get your mommy time in and your son could play with other kids. They just opened up their aquatics center and they have a family pool that our kids really enjoy. I love that they have free classes and that one Friday a month my husband and I have a night to ourselves since they watch our kids for FREE from 4-8pm and we can go offcampus. Helps with time alone with your hubby. Plus they have kids sports that you can sign them up for that is very pocket friendly. They also have babysitting hours and the price is only $3 an hour per child. I LOVE the YMCA and could go on and on about how awesome it is! Hope this helps. (by the way we have 4 kids ages 7, 5, 3, and 2. Let me know if you would like to meet up at the Y sometime.)

Welcome to Texas! There are a lot of fun things to do in the RR area, but they cost a little. There is Jungle Java, which is wonderful, my daughter LOVES it. Then there is Ready Set Play, which is full of bounce houses and moon walk things. I also love to go to Lakeline Mall, there is a free play area downstairs outside of the men's Dillards. You might also want to check out Meetup.com You can find local stay-at-home-mom groups and join one. I am a in two of them and my daughter and I have made wonderful friends and are able to get out a couple times a week at minimal or no cost. Good luck and I hope you love being a SAHM

Hi A.,

I used to live in Round Rock, but I wasn't a mom then. I will try and tell you a few things that I know of. I know that GattiLand has Moms eat free on Mondays, so you would just pay for your son's meal.
There is a new place called Jungle Java that is a huge place that you can let him play, while you drink coffee and you can use the free wi-fi. (Go to their website and sign up for their email and they will send you coupons).
They had just built the new rec center in Round Rock when I moved so I don't know much about it, but the YMCA is very nice. So, check them both out and compare them.
Well if I think of more, I will let you know! Hope that helps :)

check out the North Austin Mother's Club:

http://www.northaustinmothersclub.org/

They have playgroups, field trips, monthly meet-ups. We're having a meeting on the 5th of February if you'd like to come meet some other moms in the area.
