Hi, I just found out I am pregnant with #2 and, most likely, the last. I have a beautiful 3 year old Daughter named Adelissa Amarilli (2 syllable last name starts with K ends with N) We are hoping for a boy and have our boy name all picked out, but if it is a girl I am a little worried as Adelissa's name is so unusual if any name I like would go well with it. These are the names I am looking at.
Drina Mariah (my fav so far)
Joyce Mariah (I like Mariah Joyce better but worried about the Mariah Carey implications)
Beth Mariah (Same as above and also question Beth as a full name but Elisabeth is taken by our family and I went to school with 4 Bethanys so not sure.)
Louisa Mariah

Tell me what you think of the names and if there is any other Mariah combo you like that you think will go ok with Adelissa. BTW I do like names with nickname options and we call Adelissa Lissie for the most part.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for getting me thinking. I looked at Adina and started thinking how can I still get Drina out of that and stumbled on Audrina. Hubby likes it so she will be Audrina Mariah if we have another girl.
Thanks again!

Sounds to me like Mariah is the winner. If you like that name than that is what it should be. Don't worry about what all the stars names are, you would be hard pressed to find a name that no one has. Anyway I think Mariah is a very nice first name, I don't really like the rest of the names you listed, sorry. I also think Daria and Adelissa are a good combo.
Good luck! And congrats on the new one coming!

Lorelei E. sounds nice....You can use names family members have used....that is how names stay in families. Go with what you like and not what you are told you should use....It is your daughter and you will have to call her by the chosen name for the rest of her life. As far as what stars are named, it doesn't matter. My daughter was born in 1988 with the name Erika. People asked me if I named her after the soap star Erika and I don't think she is popular now and nobody refers to it. My son was named Paris in 1987 after the trojan warrior in the Iliad, but now he is 21 and the name Paris is most recognized as a girls name from Paris Hilton being famous.....but he is strong and proud of his name. You will make the right decision when the time comes.
Happy naming :)

Hi

I don't really have any suggestions. I do have a comment though. I named my daughter Beth 20 years ago. It is not short for anything. If you like Beth, then name your daughter Beth.

I think if you like the name "Mariah" you should use -- regardless of Mariah Carey.

By the time, your little Mariah goes to school, maybe Mariah Carey will be retired ?

I not a fan of Mariah Carey but she is really good singer, hard working and quite beautiful and has never been skinny !!

Hi W.,
Although not intentional, both of my daughters also have names that are currently fairly uncommon. Anyway, if you combine one of their names with one of your favorite choices you could end up with a name with the same pattern as your older daughter's name (double initial, same number of syllables, so might sound compatible). Anyway, her name is Milagros (Spanish, meaning miracles), and you could use it as Milagros Mariah or even Mariah Milagros. Common nicknames for Milagros are Mila and Millie. Millie would have a similar ring to it as Lissie. Bottom line, though, is that you pick a name you and your husband both like. Have fun with Baby #2.

I think you should go with Mariah as the first name. Its obviously your favorite and very beautiful. and no matter what you name your child people alway campare it to someone else. My name is Jenny and i alway get people quoting forest gump lines to me. so go with what you like.

How about Adina Mariah? From the web site http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Adina it says the name Adina means "noble, gentle, delicate". Just a thought - best wishes for a healthy pregnancy :-)

First of all, congratulations! I have a daughter named Alyssa Ryenn (prounounced like the color sienn) and a daughter Krista Jordan. So, I do like different, yet traditional names.
I think Aubrey Mariah, with the nickname Brey;
Savannah Mariah, Adeline Mariah-nickname Addy
I think that Adeline goes well with your first daughter.

Good luck!

Mariah is in the Bible - Mariah Carey does not hold the market on the name! Besides - by the time your daughter(potential) is old enough to get teased about her name none of the kids will know who Mariah Carey is. My first name is A. and I got called Alien all through school thanks to my older butt-head cousin. So I started going by Al and I still use Al as a nick-name at work to save me from having to spend 20 minutes teaching co-workers and clients how to pronounce my name. Anyone in America with an unusual name will encounter trouble with dumb americans who don't know what to do if your name isn't Michael, John, Elizabeth or Jennifer. Foreigners do much better with my name because they don't assume it's Eileen.

Anyway - I really like Mariah - it works for a kid and a grandma - you gotta have a name with staying power!

Isabelle has the same meaning as Elizabeth.

I'd stay away from Beth Mariah because of the initials (BM=bowel movement). My sister had a roommate in college who went by her initials and didn't understand the snickering. Her full name was Mary Frances.

Before you use a name already used in the family, talk with the other branch of the family tree. My cousin and his wife used the same name for their daughter (their only girl) as we did (same last initial, although different last name). It bothered me that they didn't talk with me beforehand. I hated being one of four with the same name at family reunions (extended family rather than cousins) and purposely picked names for my kids that NO ONE in the family had. (In fact, we didn't know anyone at all with my son's name; my son, at age 3.5 "picked" my daughter's name) It may not bother them, or it may be an issue. You won't know until you bring it up.

If you like the Elizabeth, I wouldn't skip it just because it is already used in your family. You could name her Elizabeth Mariah and call her Ellie. Elizabeth and Adelissa go well as do Lissa and Ellie. Also, I like Mariah as a first name too. I also was hoping for one of each child, but now that I have 2 girls I see that it is nice for them to have someone the same gender to have for the rest of their life! Good Luck, M.

Hi W.,

I love the name MALIA (pronounced Mah Lee-ah) I named my daughter MIA but wanted MALIA and her dad was against it. I think Malia sounds very pretty, fun and happy. Just a thought and its unique. OH I still REALLY loVE that name!!

I LOVE the name Adelissa! That is beautiful but the other names you chose I feel like will be dated. My name is Jennifer and 10 years ago my name was so dated and thought of as an older lady's name. GREAT! I think Joyce and Beth will be dated by the time she is older. Those are just my thoughts sorry but I thought the same things when trying to name my daughter. I like Lauren a lot too but thought that may be dated for my little one.

Oh Yes, I hear Addison is becoming a little popular too which i think is cute. Adelissa and Addison? One would have to be Addie and the other Lissa.

Good Luck! Finding names can be so hard!
