Need Help Finding a Good Preschool in the Tinely Park Area

C.S. asks from Tinley Park, IL

Hi all, I was hoping that someone could give me some advise on a GOOD Preschool in the Tinley Park area. I have called the school district and they only offer classes for "at need" children. My Daughter is almost 4 and already knows her ABC's (recognises them and what sound they make) can count from 1-25, knows her colors and shapes, and has even begun reading some. So she does not qualify for the "at need" program. I asked them and they didn't have any suggestions. I know that Bobby Noonan daycare / preschool is popular, but to be honest I have issues with Daycare centers. (I worked at 2 when I was younger and promised myself that I would NEVER put my child in one. Nothing against those that do...it was just a personal issue.) I just don't know where else to look. The park District offers classes, but I don't know anyone who has gone there, so don't know if it's worth the 733.00... Please any help would be welcomed.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the wonderful help. After looking into everything I think we are going to end up going to the park District. For those that may be interested I looked into the Blagovich Bill, and yes all children will get a "free" education through the public schools....IN 5 YEARS. Right now it is up to the individual Districts and private institutions to sign up. If your district is not involved there is nothing you can do..for now.

Thank you to all of you. You have helped my family and I greatly. But, seeing as I am not, Catholic and my Husband is, we decided that the Church preschools are just not an option at this time.

Again Thank you all..and bless you.

With Gov. Blagovich's preschool plan, all kids get to attend preschool now, not just at risk. My daughter is very high, before the bill was passed, as a 3 year old, we had to go private, since the bill was passed, she is in the public preschool in Thornton and at the screening, it was stated that with the new bill, all kids get to attend preschool for free in the public schools. this website will give you all the info, your child deserves to go to preschool in the public school since the state is giving so much money for this program. Know your rights! I am teacher, so I push all parents to put their kids in school and not pay education they should recieve for free!

Hi C.!
I have found the most wonderful pre-school....Marley Church Pre-school. My 5 year old just graduated. : ) He attended both years (3 & 4). Now my 3 yr. old will go there as well this fall. Any parent that you talk to that has a child that has attended this school, will testify to the quality of care, attention, education and love that their child has received from this wonderful school. And the cost won't drain your wallet either! It's located in old Marley area in Mokena. 187th street, just west of Wolf Rd. It's not just local kids that attend, we have had kids from Manhattan attend this school because it's so well loved. If you would like to hear more about it, e-mail me and we can talk. I have saved alot of the weekly news letters that they put out every week explaining what they did that week. Very impressive!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about this school. And I agree with you on the "day care centers". I'm not a fan of those either. I've been blessed to be able to stay home with my kids. Thank God!!!

Hi
Someone may have already told you this, but Zion Lutheran
church on 171st in between Harlem and Oak Park Ave has pre-
school and kindergarten. I am not sure how much they charge
however I have heard really good things about it. I used to live in Tinley off of Oak Park Ave and I am the same age as you
with a 6 year old and a 1 year old, I am now living in New Lenox (which I love) however I miss old Tinley alot, I really
loved it there! Also I think there is a church on 167th East
of Oak Park Ave on the North side of street that also offers pre-school as well as one off of 175th and 94th ave.
Hope all helps !!

I would recomend Trinity Lutheran in Tinley Park on 159th. I know a teacher there and several fmailies It is a pre-k through 8 school with National accredidation and resonable rates in a family atmosphere. Feel free to tell them a teacher from Zion Matteson recommended them.

I don't know how far you are from Frankfort, but Peace Preschool on LaGrange in Frankfort is amazing. It is a co-op, so you are expected to participate in your child's class about every other month (class helper, provide treats, etc.). My daughter and I both love this aspect as she loves having me in her class when I am the "helper" and I love really knowing what goes on at school and knowing that I am participating in her early education. Good luck!
