My son attends Kids & Company Preschool at the Methodist Church in New Lenox, right on Rt. 30 (Maple). This is his second year there and we love it!

I recently found out about a program at Providence Catholic High School that everyone I have talked to raves about. My husband and I are considering sending our son there for Kindergarten since New Lenox only offers 1/2 day and he has a late birthday.

The site for Providence is:

http://www.providencecatholic.org/PCCA/index.html

Choosing a preschool for your child is a hard thing to do (at least I found it to be). Take your time, and check them ALL out. Do not be embarrassed to ask for a walk-thru or if you can sit in on a class.

Good Luck!

Edited to add: There is also Marley Preschool which is located next to Marley Candles/Marley Church off of Rt 6. I know a few families that attend there and they love it as well.

Marley Church Preschool in New Lenox is the best! I sent my son to Providence for the 3 year old program and was not very thrilled with it, then sent him to Marley the following year and loved it! The teachers (Sue & Elaine) are amazing. They make you and your child feel like part of a big family. I have nothing negative to say about Marley, they are awesome. If you have any questions about the program, feel free to e-mail me at ____@____.com

Hi L.-

My son who is now 5 went to The Welcome Place Preschool which is located at 163rd & Cedar. I believe 3 year olds are Tuesday and Thursdays. I really liked the teachers and the curriculum. Along with the women that spoke of SHOL preschool I believe it is a little pricier than the park district but I felt it was worth it.
Good Luck

Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Lockport has an excellent preschool program. My daughter went there for 3 and 4 year old preschool. My son went there last year as a 3 year old and is enrolled as a four year old this year. My sisters drove from New Lenox and Bensenville to bring their children because it is such a great program! I just cannot say enough good things about it. The teachers and their assistants are excellent - very caring, well educated, truly concerned with the well being of all the children. The teacher to student ratio is also very good. 4 year olds meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; 3 year olds meet Thursday and Friday. The consecutive days seem to make it easier to get the kids to go, and it's like they are going to 'real' school by going one day right after the other. SOTH is a bit pricier than the local park districts, but in my opinion it is well worth the money. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for! Good luck on your search!

I am a SAHM and former elemenatary teacher. I took a lot of time observing preschools in the winter and asking specific questions about various preschool programs. The school that impressed me the most that my preschooler attends is Happy Hands Preschool in Lemont. The school has a monthly curriculum they follow, they offer motor classes (gym), music classes, and computer classes for the students. They also have various programs and field trips during the school year such as Grandparent's Day and a Christmas play. The school is accredited by DCFS and has teachers who are qualified unlike other programs I looked into like the Lemont Park District. Let me know if you have any other questions. It is definitely worth checking out. I think you would really like it.

I'm in Plainfield, but really less then 15 minutes away from Lockport. It's straight down Caton Farm. I have a 3 yr old that comes from there daily to my daycare. I do a full preschool program and in the fall plan on switching to only doing preschool. You can see what I offer at http://www.freewebs.com/tarastoyland

We are in the same boat, but looking for schools in NL, Mokena and Frankfort. PACES - SOUTH Region puts on a preschool guidebook (just for $4 that has helpful tips and some school listings) which is available starting at this months meeting. For more info - http://www.pacesmoms.com/
