I have just posted about my daughter being pregnant. Does anyone know of a good pediatrician in the area tha accepts medicaid? If so is it hard to get in to see them when you have medicaid. When do I need to call them? My daughter has medicaid now, but the baby want till she arrives in Nov. I didnt know when I should call to get her a pediatrician. Thanks

What can I do next?

Doctors Family Medicine in Greer takes children with Medicaid AND with the Medicaid HMO plan both. My son sees Dr. Chappell there and loves him.

I live in Wellford. I had a hard time finding a pediatrician close by so I kept the one I used in Taylors. Eastside Pediatric. I know they are accepting patients. My girls use Dr Carolyn Schultz and my son uses Dr Roy Mages. They are GREAT!! They have a great bed side manner. My kids don't dread going to the doctor. They just dread the shots. I never have a problem getting my kids seen. Sometimes I get an appt within minutes of calling. Let me know if you are interested and I can tell you the short cut I take to get there. It only takes me 25 minutes or so to get there. It takes that long to get to the bigger parts of Spartanburg sometimes.

Depending on the hospital she delivers in they may require that her pediatrician check the baby, although they do have doctors on staff that can do this, if you require it. But it is good to have a doctor who can be available in case there are any problems. Children's Medical Center has two locations one in Greenville, and one in Simpsonville I prefer Dr. Whittenburg, and he practices mostly in the Simpsonville office, however here is a listing of their offices and information. We have been very pleased. I am sure they take medicaid, and they cannot treat her differently because she is on medicaid, so there should not be a problem with that.

Check out Carolina Pediatrics. They are part of the Greenville Hosp. system. There are 4 outstanding ped. doctors. We have been seeing them for almost 4 years with two different children and they are wonderful. Great doc's and friendly, supportive staff! ###-###-####

You can call them and even go and meet them before the baby arrives. They will just need to know they are the ped. of choice so when the baby does arrive they can do the first check-ups at the hosp.

Good luck and enjoy your new addition!
