Need a Great Place to Read!

I love to read but like most moms, time is of the essence. When my husband watches the kids to give me from free time, my first choice of activity is to find a great place to curl up with a book and some coffee and read. I have tried bookstores, Panera, Starbucks and Dominicks. The local library reading room is closed by 5 pm. My problem is this free time is almost always at night on the weekends. I am looking for a real coffeehouse kinda setting. I am usually able to leave around 7 pm and live in Aurora. I have been looking for "THE" spot for years and have been discouraged by what I have found. Not interested in open mike nights or poetry slams.

What can I do next?

Hi D.!
I, like you, LOVE to curl up with a good book and read but mostly I journal. I live in North Aurora and go to Messenger Public Library. In the summer they have a back screened in porch that I would sit in and in the winter I sit inside. I grab my coffee from home or stop at Starbucks on the way. Here is the wesite and hours. Happy reading!!

I don't know where in aurora to send you. I am not good at reading in a real busy setting. I would tell you that our new library in sugar grove is open until 9 p.m. on tuesday, wednesday and thursday. It has quiet reading rooms, comfy chairs, a fireplace. we do have a cafe in the library, but at this time, she is not open in the evenings. however, the library does allow you to bring in covered beverages. we are having a fundraising event on nov 13th..a winetasting, cheese, desserts and great holiday decorations that can be purchased right off the wall! tickets are $15 for one or $20 for 2. you could check it out and see if this might be a reading spot for you. you can look at some pix at www.sglibraryevent.com
