My daughter was recently diagnosed by our pediatrician with seasonal allergies. Before starting her on meds, I would like to explore non-medication ideas. Her symptoms are itchy eyes, stuffed nose and sneezing.
I read about the honey treatment and I have been giving her 2 tsp of local honey a day for about two weeks, although I haven't noticed any difference yet.
We live in Portland - can anyone recommend a naturopath or other type of alternative healer in Portland that would be good with children and allergies? Although our pediatrician mentioned seasonal allergies, I'm open to the idea that she might be allergic to food or something else.

He's been in practice for like 30 years or something, family care. He has worked with midwives for most/all of that time.
He doesn't bill insurance, but will fill in the form so you can try to get reimbursed, and tries to keep his prices down for the uninsured (hence no office staff to bill insurance).
He doesn't realize how much a person might not know about naturopathy, so sometimes speaks in an of-course manner that I find frustrating, but he does listen to differing opinions. He uses allopathic stuff like antibiotics/vaccines, and the natural-type means of homeopathy and chiropractic ... but he listens to the family's concerns. [When my baby had almost-pneumonia he gave me the homeopathic (because I was pretty sure the baby just needed a little help to figure out how to get better) and a prescription for an antibiotic (he was pretty sure the baby would need) ... the baby got well on the homeopathic (I gave it a 24 hour limit, or I would start the antibiotic) ... which I just offer to show that this is a man who will listen to intuition, but also do his best to protect the child ;).]
He gets grumpy about things he thinks are ridiculous, but is a gentle man.
For seasonal allergies, he gave us local bee pollen to take ... similar to the honey idea I think.

I use a fantastic naturopath named Jessica Black. she is based in mcminnville, though i know she was planning to begin practicing a few days a week in the city, which is where she actually lives. she worked wonders with my son who suffered severe dairy and soy allergies as a new born until about one year. she helped him to heal from the inside out and now he is strong and allergy-free! her office number is ###-###-####.
