I have a 3yr old daughter she has very little hair. An inch to maybe a 1 1/2. Everyone used to make comments that by the time she was 2 she would have some hair. She was completely bald until 2. Not one strand. She recieves a multi vit. She does have food allergies. We avoid Wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, and treenuts. Her diet is rich in Protein, strachs, veggies and fruit. I have mentioned it to pedi, didnt seem to concerned. We go soon for her 3 yr well check. What are some good questions for her. Does she need lab work? I am just anxious to see some hair. What could be causing such slow growth when she is growing tall, and everything else seems to be right on target????

What color is her hair? Blonds and or light brown hair is usually thin. I, myself, didnt "have hair" until I was well after three.

As I tell my close friend who has a three year old blondy with no hair...be careful what you wish for....my daughter has thick, long, curly, dark hair.(she is two) I spend more time on her hair than I do my own. We currently use 4 products, comb, brush and several hair knockers in her hair everyday. I cant skip a day.....it gets too tangled.

i have seen kids in elementary school with baby amounts of hair. as long as its not brittle, breaking off eaisly, or falling out i would say her hair is just doing its own thing. our baby was born with a full head of hair and never lost it like all the mommas said he would. kids dont play by the rules. it sounds like you have everything undercontroll. i bet someday she will have a beautiful head of hair. go ahead and talk to your pedi about it. good luck,

I don't know- two of my cousins and my sister didn't have hair until age 3 either. And it grows slowly. They were all blond. I had a full head of hair at birth and still have a lot of hair and it grows quickly. I have dark hair. Supposedly those genes make a difference.

Is she blond? I've noticed that many children with blond hair are bald until about 3 years old. If the doctor isn't worried about it, don't stress out. As long as she is eating healthy food, she'll be fine. There seems to be alot of variability in hair growth rates.

you can try adding brewers yeast (b vitamins) to her food. It's a flake powder that mixes into things like apple sauce, orange juice, etc. My mom did it with me as a baby becuase she was worried about my hair growing and now I have a mop of hair. I have been giving it to my daughter (6 mos. as well), just a tbs.a day is plenty. You can find it at Whole Foods.

Ditto to Christine M. My husband was bald(practically) until after age 3. 2 of my blondies have only needed 1 haircut between the age of 2 and 3...both are growing normally and a bit tall for their ages.
