My First Period Back

While I am happy to know I might actually get pregnant sometime soon now I am a bit concerned and wondering what some of your experiences have been. I woke up this morning and swore I was pregnant, I was so nauseated. I was contemplating testing, went into the restroom and realized I had actually started my period. That was strange to begin with since formerly, I experienced no discomfort of any sort during menstruation. Then as the day (today) progressed I started getting chills on and off but have no fever. My whole body is sore and I haven't been able to eat anything but an apple all day. Is the just because of hormones changing? Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and your advice. I feel kind of silly now because my husband woke up throwing up yesterday and had all of my symptoms throughout the day. Seems like it was a bug. I feel almost 100% better now. And my period seems pretty normal...like it was before my pregnancy. Thanks again.

Sometimes when I get my period I get nauseous as well. BUT I can say I had a period when I was pregnant with my adoring 4th son ...
So if it is an out of the ordinary period just keep that in mind ...
If it is shorter then usual take a test...
Good Luck

If you truly want to make sure, go to your doctor and get a blood test.

The bleeding could be implantation bleeding, but not if it has lasted all day.

Go see your doctor. Some women want to be pregnant so badly, they start experiencing symptoms because of their high desire. Then again, some women actually are pregnant. There's no way to tell for sure without a blood test.

I know this is a personal question, but is your period heavy or spotty? I've heard you can bleed or spot early in a pregnancy--perhaps you should take a test anyhow? I have always had chills and stomach aches during my periods--my gyn said it was a sensitivity to the hormones. I took Amodium Ad and tylenol each month and felt much better. Good luck!

D., i just started my first period too after having my first child in March. I had the same exact symptoms as you. I was very tired, nausea, and aching all over and a few hours later started my period.

It is really hard to say. For one, you could be coming down with something, which could be misinterrupted as pregnancy. Since you did have a baby with the last 10 months, you may not have a 'normal' period like you once did pre-pregnancy. I know for me, that once my periods resumed, they have remained pms free. Before I always had warning, now I have no warning signs at all. The only sure way to know if a test, but, from you have described, it doesn't sound like you are pregnant.
