I nurse all my babies and with each of them it takes a long time for my period to come back. My first it took 12 months, second 14 months and now with my third she will be 14 months in a few days and I still haven't had a period yet. Don't worry, it takes time but it will come back.

First of all, are you nursing? If so, then that explains everything.

I nursed until my daughter was 18 months and didn't get my period back for two years. Then I was sad when it returned!

If you are not nursing, it is still normal to not get your period back for some time.

If you are really concerned, I would contact your ob-gyn.

For nursing moms, the *average* is that a period returns after 7 months. Nine months sounds close enough that it should be within the range of normal. A quick call to the doctor should resolve things, though.

Are you breastfeeding exclusively? If so, that can keep your period from starting because it stops ovulation. If not, then go see your GYN to find out why it hasn't returned.

No worries..Are you nursing? I BF exclusively and my period didn't show up until a few weeks after I stopped, around 14 months!

Are you still nursing? Even if you're only nursing a little, it may be enough to keep your period at bay. With three of my four children, my period didn't return until two months after I stopped nursing them. This meant from the time those children were born it was about 16 months before it returned with my first, 13 months with my second, and 12 months with my third.

If you aren't nursing, you should probably see a doctor to make sure everything is okay.

I got my period back with both of my kids about a month before they stopped nursing.

Why don't you call your doctor? But, is common knowledge that if you breastfeed, you most likely will not have your period. You didn't say if you were or not. If your NOT BF then you might want to see the doctor...................
good luck!

Are you breastfeeding? It is completely normal to have it stay away while nursing. I was bummed when mine came back when my LO was 7 months old. One of my friends went 20 months without one after her littlest was born.

If you are nursing this is very normal. Mine did not come back until about a week before his first birthday. I know a lot of other mom's like me too.

I nursed both my kid's and didn't get a period for 14 mos and 12 mos. If you're not nursing then I might call your ob/gyn just to ease your mind. It's probably nothing though because your body goes through so much with childbirth and having a new baby. Congrats on your 9 month baby!
