I have boys that are 3 years apart and they do argue alot and have pretty much since the younger one got old enough to know how. Neither have had their own space, they have always shared a room.

I discipline them both. I don't want to hear details as to what, where, when and why, they both get punished.

I think the experts would have you teach them how to relate with each other and teach them how they are to treat and respect others.....well we are way beyond that. They get disciplined and then I have them tell me why they got in trouble and they usually know the exact reason...so they know I don't have to teach them all that. They are chosing to do it because they think they will get away with it. They know better than to do it at school so they know better at home.

I have to say they arguing and fighting is normal because my brother and I are five years apart and when we fought all the time when we were younger. But, now that we are older we get along great. I think it is just something you have to grow out of.

Well to begin with just so you know I feel your pain when it comes to this. I have a son who is 11 and a daughter who is 9. They love to fight. I remember the days when they at least liked each other. Now it seems they have no toleration for the other even being in the same room. I have struggled with this for some time now but finally came up with something that seems to be working really well for me. I make them hug. They hate it. Its the worst thing in the world that I could do to them. As far as only getting part of the story......well I have dealt with that as well. I dont listen to it any more. They are both fighting and I am getting two different stories from two different children and its just impossible to decide who is telling the whole truth or any truth at all. Most of the time with my children neither of them are completely innocent. They know the buttons to push on each other and they use them often. When I cant get the truth out of them I send them to their rooms or make them sit in next to each other in the living room while I just look at them. I have made them hold hands. I am tellin ya this stuff works. They have sat in my living room crying their eyes out and I wouldn't have laid one finger on them LOL The thought of touching each other just makes them sick. Don't know if this was any help but its what works for me.

I wish I could tell you they'll grow out of it, and they will to some extent, but I have one girl that's 21 and one that's 11 and they still agravate each other. You might try getting them some time apart. Like one goes to grandma's and you take the other to the park then switch the next day. Good luck.

you are right it is normal for siblings to fight in my case mine were three girls 12, 10, and 7, they are still fighting just like yiur boys UNTIL I told the girls that from know on it didnt matter who started the arguement, everyone that was involved is going to get the same punishment, so know before they come running to me with so ans so did this they think about it first, so know they are starting to settle things themselves because they know they are both going to be punished
