Can anyone suggest a good motheres day out program? I'd also like to know the average costs associated with this and the normal process for finding a good one and how I'd go about enrolling. I currently work full time and have a one year old in day care, but will be staying home when our second one comes in April. I live in northwest Austin.

What can I do next?

Hi S., I highly recommend Williams Trace Baptist Child day out program. My son went there for 3 years and we absolutely loved it and my now 12 month old will go there next fall. The director, Ann brothers is a wonderful person and very responsive to any needs or concerns you may have. Also, the teachers there are wonderful. They all have teaching degrees and are required to take continueing education classes and so they are always up to date with the latest and greatest. I have a 8 year old that went to daycare because I worked and he was not even close to being ready for kindergarten when he turned 5 and therefore had to wait another year, however my 4 year old who will be turning 5 on Friday, Aug. 1st is so ready. He can write his name, say and write his upper case alphabet and he knows his colors and numbers and can count to 100. He can also count by 5's to 50. I owe all this to WTBCDO program and therefore I highly recommend this program to you. I paid $145.00 a month when he first started out and he only went two days a week, but this year I paid $195.00 a month and he went 3 days a week. The hours are 9:00 to 1:30. Hope this helps and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Contact Austin Families at ###-###-####. They are a longtime, well-respected resource and referral agency that can match you with the MDOs in your area of Austin with days/wk prices, etc. They can also provide you articles, tip sheets for sibling rivalry and more.

You might want to edit your request and put where you live.

Hurry and enroll....the good ones fill up fast and many kids are already enrolled for the fall semester (mine is not open in the summer).

I go to Southminster in Missouri City (right on the border of Sugar Land). LOVE IT!! Was actually sad when summer vacation came around.

My two year old goes 2 days a week and it is $170 a month. There are one time yearly supply fees with all programs anywhere, usually $150-$200. I had to pay a first time "family member" fee which made my registration fees seem pretty high. But other places costs more per month so they all kinda average out.

This is my advice for anyone seeking daycare:
The director may be impressive, their "philosophy" may seem ideal and the premises may look pretty BUT what it all comes down to is "WHO is in the room with YOUR child all day". Meet that woman/girl and make up your mind.

By the way, I quit working in pharmaceutical sales and left a pretty great paycheck and now I am a SAHM. NEVER looked back and I absolutely LOVE staying at home. If you can swing it, try it, I feel I am such a better mother to my youngest daughter than I was to my older one b/c I was working. That's just ME and I am NOT judging anyone who works :)

Word of mouth is the best way I know of to find a good Mother's Day out. In my area the average rate is $125 per month.
