Monkey in the Vacuum

Our husky is blowing her coat right now, so basically if you don't vacuum every other day it looks like it snowed in our house. Gross. Anyway, so here I am vacuuming along and get that burnt rubber smell. Uggh...not again. Vacuums hate me. I think there is some secret DNA conspiracy going on, because I swear every time I touched one, it would blow. One even caught fire. It was at work, and somewhere there is video evidence to prove it.

So anyway, burnt smell. I thought, probably clogged up with dog hair. I was using the attachment portion so I checked it out. Seemed to be ok, emptied the bin, hmmm. Turn it on, more burning smell. Oooook. So I flip it over...ARRRRRGH!!! There are EYES staring back at me! I totally dropped that thing before I realized it was a tiny stuffed monkey my daughter got in a McD's happy meal.

Pulled the monkey out and Viola! Vacuum works again.

Just in case anyone needed a laugh. How's everyone else's day going?

What can I do next?

Girl, you scared me--I somehow thought it was going to be a real pet. This apple juice must be spiked.

Oooh...vacuum stories!

When I was about 12, I lived with my grandma and great-grandma for a couple of years. One of my chores was vacuuming.

It was Winter. In the Winter at Grandma's, she brings in a lot of the ceramic statues she keeps in the garden so the glaze won't crack. So I'm vacuuming in the dining room and I pick up a ceramic rabbit to vacuum under it. I put it on its side a few feet away.

You know how ceramics have a hole in the bottom...because they're hollow.

Well here I am, vacuuming away, and a HUGE wolf spider climbs out of the hole! It's SO huge that its legs REACH out of the hole before it pulls its body through! EEK!

I'm not even afraid of spiders...but this one snuck up on me! So I grabbed the vacuum wand and SUCKED THE THING UP!

At this point, my adrenaline is pumping, so I shut off the vacuum and put the wand on the floor so I can go tell grandma about my scare.

Apparently I didn't leave the vacuum on long enough...because the blasted thing CRAWLS OUT OF THE VACUUM WAND!

Oh EM GEE!!

So I smoosh it.

:-)

At least your monkey didn't crawl back out!

Thats great! My son is seriously afraid of his toys going up the vacuum so everytime I get it out of the closet he screams and picks up all his toys off the floor (which works out well for me lol) As long as we are telling funny stories....This morning I was rocking my three month old before her nap and my two and a half year old was in the living room playing. After I put the baby down I find him in the hallway without his sweatshirt (he insisted on wearing a sleaveless shirt this morning because the monkey on it has jiggly eyes. and I told him he could only wear it if he wore a zip up hoodie with it) i ask him were his shirt is and he burst into tears shouting "I'm sorry mama." It turns out he spilled water on it and though he would be in trouble so he took his shirt off and hid it in the kitchen lol.

That is SOOO funny! I needed a laugh, too.

Just recently, I thought I saw a raccoon up in the attic. After a five-man search, they came up with nothing... but the hubby brought down a stuffed animal finally, asking if that's what I saw.

Oops.

I would have felt really bad, but within the week we'd chased two squirrels out of our HOUSE. Animal control nabbed one, but I convinced the other one to leave on my own (with the added coercion of my cat).

Thanks again!

My mom's little dog always chased and barked at the vacuum cleaner. Sadie would get so close to it. One day, her tailed got caught in it!! (The dog's, not my mom's! LOL!) My mom had to get a screwdriver and take the vacuum apart to unwrap Sadie's tail from the roller. Awe!!
