Hi ladies, I moved here to TX from CA last year right before I had my twins. I've joined a Moms of Twins Club, but only meet with them once a month. I'm really hoping to meet some friends by joining another Moms or Womens group. I've tried several groups through Meetup.com, but get frustrated by all the "rules" they put on members, i.e: you have to do a certain # of play dates every week, you have to participate in online discussions, you get cut if you give a last minute cancellation. I'm just hoping to get to know a nice, laidback group of women who hopefully have kids for my kiddos to play with, any ideas?

What can I do next?

I am a part of a MOMS club chapter is N. Fort Worth. We are always looking for new members. We usually have 1-2 activities planned per week. These include parks, bigger trips (like the zoo), craft days, mommy & me music, etc. We have 1 monthly Mom's night out. We also have playgroups by age. It costs $25 to join for 1 year. You can come to as many or as few activities as you would like. (Of course, the more you attend, the better you get to know people). We do have a yahoo group for posting questions, but you can choose whether you want to participate or not. If you are interested, private message me and I will get you my e-mail address and connect you with our Vice President of Membership.

I know I've met a lot of wonderful friends for my children through this group. Some of our kids have been friends since they were 18 months (they are 4 now) and other we have just met but have quckly become close friends.

good luck and I hope to hear from you!

You have not said anything about church so I do not know if that is an option for you or not but I joined several play groups through churches. Also look for a newcomers group, we moved around a lot when our oldest was young and some of them had playgroups. There used to be a nationwide group called Mommy and Me, they probably only meet once a month but you can always stand up at a meeting and say, I am going to the park next Tues for a picnic lunch, I will be ather at 11:30, anyone who would like to come is more than welcome. The best groups I have been in started that way. All new stay at home moms are lonly and need not only friendship and support but also adult conversation. Good luck and welcome to Texas. We have been here two years and love it.

Call a local school and see if they have a Pre-school PTA in the district. FW has several school districts within their boundaries so I don't know which one you are in. good luck!

If you're ok with driving to Arlington, we have a great moms club that holds 2-3 playgroups per week and 1-2 Moms Nights Out per month. We have online discussion boards. We're not strict with participation as we know each mom has different needs :) Check us out and let me know if you have any questions :)
