Menstruation After Tubal Ligation

I had a c-section and a tubal ligation 2 months ago. I got my period two days ago, but it is hardly anything at all. Just a few spots. Before the tubal, my periods were somewhat heavy. Is it normal to have hardly a period after the tubal?

What can I do next?

Thankfully I didn't (and haven't had)have any complications after my tubal in 2004. Everything's been smooth sailing. My cycles have been normal (light to medium flow, lasting 3-5 days). After my tubal I got my cycle 6 weeks later and didn't have any spotting in between cycles. I'm not sure whether the tubal plays a part in it, but my ob/gyn said that it's normal for a woman to not have a cycle some months. I'd say just ask your gyno to be sure.

It is not abnormal to have changes in your cycle after a tubaligation. You may eventually have a heavier flow or you may not. I went through same thing 17 years ago. Mine got very light and then eventually got somewhat heavier, but my cycle went from 5 days of moderate flow to only 3 days total and usually the 2nd day is heavy then the third gets real light and I'm finished by day 4.

hi ....i had a tubal ligation 2years ago and ever since then, i've had irregular periods....i never know when i'm gonna have a period cuz it's so irregular...it's not every 28 days like it use to be which catches me off guard a lot of times. It just differs for each woman..of course, it's only been two months for you so you're gonna need some time for your body to return to normal. it will get back on track soon i imagine...

A.,

After I got my Tubal (11 years ago) My periods almost instantly got lighter. Now they only last about 36 hours, and not as frequent. (every 6 weeks as opposed to every 4). I used to worry, but after visiting my GYN I don't know how many times, I've leaned to be used to it -and THANKFUL!

Also, If you just had your baby 2 months ago, you body may not be ready for a cycle yet - expecially if your nursing... Hope this helps.

Hi A.,
I'm going through some weird stuff after my tubal too. My doctor just told me about something called "post-tubal syndrome" which researchers say doesn't exist, but it does exist. If you google it, you'll get all kinds of info. I was so surprised! Nobody ever told me there was any risk to getting a tubal ligation.
Good luck.
