My daughter is starting Mother's Day next month. I want to make her a nap mat but can't find a pattern anywhere. When I look online, there are plenty of places to purchase one but no patterns. Has anyone ever found a pattern?

What can I do next?

I bought an exercise mat at Wal-Mart for about $5.00. Then, I made a pillow case to fit over it, so it could be removed and washed easily. Then, I sewed a pillow w/pillowcase onto it also. Afterwards, I sewed on ribbon to keep it tied up. Just cut your fabric about 2" bigger than the mat.

Hi F.,
I have two boys and I made their napmaps, since they were so expensive. For the bottom, I used quilted fabric. I made the length of the bottom, a couple inches longer than my son. For the top/cover piece, I got two coordinating pieces of fabric, stitched those two together along all 4 sides, then stitched that piece to one side of the quitled bottom . The length of the top measured from my son's neck to his feet, so there wasn't a chance of him covering up his face. I got a small pillow from Ikea, and made the coordinating pillow case. Hope that makes sense. I went to store and looked at the $45.00 mats, then made my own verison for about $12.00 each. Happy sewing. D.

Do you want a nap pak? http://www.mynappak.com/

If so they sell these at Learning Express stores. There is one in Frisco at the Tollway and Lebanon and one in Plano at Parker and Tollway. They are $45 I think. We got the flower one. You can also get them online at the above link or on several other sites just sit in "nap pak" in your search engine. However, I found that all the prices are around the same.

The flat nap MATS are sold at Mardels and then you buy sheet covers for them.

My MIL made the nap mat that we have for our daughter. It folds up with a pillow in it. It appears to be very simple. If you'd like to borrow it or view it for a pattern I'd be happy to meet you somewhere to share this info. Let me know.

target and wal-mart have the plastic core nap mat and you could just measure a 1/2 inch or so larger around it and sew a rectangle to fit core mat... good luck!

I've seen lap blankets in quilted cotton. These are much smaller than a twin size coverlet. You could buy one for cheap at Marshalls or TJ Maxx and cut it down to size, or maybe it is the perfect size you are looking for. They are not expensive.
