Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for an OB at Northwestern (Prentice) that specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine (high risk pregnancies)...I'm pregnant with twins!!

I've heard good things about Dr. Susan Gerber from my RE's nurse but wanted to see if anyone else had any information....thanks!!

What can I do next?

Not at Northwestern - but I LOVE MFM doctor, Dr. Bessinger at Loyola. He is the best and I thank God everyday for him being my doctor and guiding me to a healthy baby. I also LOVE the NICU there. Can't be beat!

Hi!
I had twin boys (high risk ) 2 years ago and was so lucky to have Maternal Fetal Medicine as my doctor/s. The set up was that I was not given a specific doctor, but saw all of them. I was unsettled about this at first, but LOVED each of them that I saw. Dr. Ann Borders ended up performing C-section and it's funny, I had never met her before, and I felt completely at ease with her manner, professionalism, and expertise.
Even more importantly, the nurse at MFM are phenomenal and would call me back within minutes with any questions/concerns I had.
Once you see them for one pregnancy, you can go back to them for any subsequent ones, high risk or not. If I ever do have another baby, I will definitely go back to them!

I agree, Dr Tim Garvey is great. He just delivered my 2nd baby via C-section. I didn't think he was high-risk, though. You have to rotate among the other doctors in the practice though.

Hello M., Congratulations on your twins! My first son was delivered by Dr. Susan Gerber in July 2008. she was wonderful! When I went back for my second son, delivered in November, 2009, I asked for Dr. Gerber specifically, and I had my initial consultation with her for both pregnancies. But they have a staff of about ten doctors, with which each patient is required to have the routine exams, over the months, before delivery. When my second son was born, Dr. Gerber had just left her on-call time, and I had Dr. Sokol for his delivery (both were c-section). He was the senior member of the staff (still a year younger than I was!) and he was just great! I was very happy with the hospital accommodations, all of the staff and the doctors. Ask for Dr. Susan Gerber for your initial consultation. You will also appreciate the 3D/4D ultrasound. I don't think that all hospitals have it readily available.

YES Dr. Timothy Garvey is amazing. He was my ob through both pregnancies; my first a 35-weeker and my 2nd a single umbilical artery pregnancy. He is my hero. He also did my Essure procedure. :-).
