Massive Ear Wax Drainage

What exactly do you mean...
ear wax or drainage from the tubes?

My son's ears (takes after his dad) produce a lot a of ear wax. When his allergies are flaring up or he gets a cold, the amount of ear wax becomes profuse. It is softer than normal also. If it is just WAX then it is probably related to some sort of immune response. If it is NOT WAX but some sort of drainage, then he needs to see the doctor. A perforated eardrum needs to be treated. If you cannot tell for sure which it is, then he needs to be seen to rule out an infection or perforated eardrum.

The time our son had an ear infection, we only knew because his ear started leaking. Ear infection would be my guess and unfortunately, you'll need to see a doctor. Are there any drug store or other store chains that have drop-in medical clinics in your area? That might be an affordable option.

If you have insurance (can't tell if you do or it's just lousy coverage), check your insurer's website for listings of doctors. Since you don't have time to research, I would just go with one who can see you. If you don't have insurance, check the phone book or search online for any free or low-cost medical clinics in your area. You might look under charities or service organizations if they don't show up under medical listings.

Have you checked at the health department to see if they have a clinic? Sometimes you can get low or no cost help there. Drainage was always a bad sign in my kids too.

We did this two weeks ago. My LO's ear was draining what looked like liquid wax. So gross! He had a horrible ear infection that we are still treating.

Does he have a fever?Is he in any pain?IS it bloody have an odor?If I remember correctly you don't know if his ear tubes fell out from previous messages it could be a built up of wax that is now clearing on its own or his ear drum ruptured causing drainage then leads into infection pain tenderness & more issues.It is Friday now almost at the end of the day can you take him to a Take Care clinic such as a Walmart Clinics,Wlagreens,Minor Med,Med assist they are & aren't cheap & do accept patients with no insurance coverage.
Look in your phone book for Drs call & ask if they are accepting new patients let them know during the call you have no health care insurance & are expecting to get covered under medicaid if they are a participating provider under Medicaid if not you'll have to move on to the next unfortunately since you don't have the handbooks yet on who the providers are in your area you'll have to do the calling & ask questions.

that is a sign of ear infection. He will need at least ear drops (preferably taken with oral antibiotics too).
Do you have a CVS minute clinic nearby? You don't need to take him to ER unless he's in pain. From experience, CVS minute clinic nurse usually prescribes amoxicillin to treat ear infections in kids unless the parents asks for something else (omnicef or augmentum). You could also try calling around pediatricians offices, explain the situation with insurance and see if they will waive the fee for the time being. You never know if someone will agree to it.
