My little girl has white canvas shoes and I cannot get them clean. I have put them in the washig machine but they are still gray. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Here's what happened. I tried the salt and it helped a bit. So then I soaked them in oxyclean (warm water) (I didn't have any Biz) and that helped. Since I didn't have any Tide I took a toothbrush and some "Dawn" and scrubbed them with that. They look much better now, but I think the glue must have run onto the canvas or something because they are still a bit gray around the rubber. Otherwise they look a lot better. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice.

When I was a cheerleader (many moons ago) we used to wet our white Keds/shoes under the faucet, sprinkle salt on them, and leave them out in the sun...they'd be white as snow and you just rinse the salt off and put them back out in the sun to dry. They wouldn't get ruined in the dryer that way.

I hope this helps.

have you tried soaking them for about an hour in warm, not hot, water and oxyclean? then wash them in cold water and tide and let them air dry. washing them in hot may make the glue at the soles bleed. good luck!

I swear by BIZ. I think it works better than OXY-clean. I haven't used it on shoes, but my son's socks come off absolutely filthy and BIZ works wonders. Good luck!
