Looking for New Pediatrician - Denver,CO

I am looking for a new pediatrician/pediatrics group. Our current pediatrician is a good pediatrician but is not a good fit with our parenting style or the parenting choices we have made. My son is a happy, healthy co-sleeping, breastfeeding two-year-old. Starting when my son was about 4-5 months old, he has made unsolicited suggestions on how to switch to formula and how to get him to sleep in his own bed. I have had to continually explain and defend my choices during the last two years any time we visit the pediatrician. I am very comfortable with the choices we have made but would like to find a doctor that not only understands and is familiar with these parenting choices, but is also supportive. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new pediatrician that might work for us? We live in central Denver but are willing to drive.

We love all the doctors at Cherry Creek Pediatrics (off Kentucky and Colorado Blvd).

They have been very supportive -- helpful and never judgmental. I'd highly recommend them...

I agree with Erika. We also go to Stapleton Pediatrics and are absolutely in LOVE with Dr. Brandon. He is supportive and kind (and our daughter just loves him even though she is only 4.5 months old :).
I would HIGHLY recommend him!
Good luck :)

We go to Centennial Pediatrics (Orchard and Parker Road). I absolutely LOVE their practice! Amazing women! ###-###-#### If that's too far away, perhaps they could recommend someone they know closer to your area.

Hope this helps.

I drive all the way to Cherry Creek Pediatrics from Westminster because I love them so much. We go to Doctor Sara Humphrees but all the other doctors we've seen there are great too.

Good luck!

My two children are with Partners in Pediatrics. I also co-slept with my baby and never had anyone there say anything negative about it. This is the Meridian number, but they can give you the Denver clinic number. ###-###-####

Good luck!

Hello K.,

We go to Arvada Pediatrics but the one in Broomfield. We see Dr. Michael Starbuck.
You can set up an appt. just to interview him or another doctor in his practice. His wife works there too and she is also great. We interviewed him when our first daughter was a couple of weeks old and she was cooing and smiling with him so we knew he was the one. I wish you luck, you need to feel comfortable.

I highly recommend Partners in Pediatrics (PIP). They have two offices. Since you live in central Denver, you would go to the office on 9th and Jasmine (Mayfair). ###-###-####. They are wonderful! You can schedule an interview with them to ask questions and understand their philosophy. Good luck!

I have been extremely happy with our pediatricians office. I have 4 kids that go to them, so I have seen almost everyone in the office for everything you can imagine. Never once have I ever felt judged or had any personal choices come into question. I am a single mom and have seen that leaves the door way open for some people! The office staff are all great. I never wait long and they always have appointments left open during the day for emergency's. You can check them out on their website at www.arvadapeds.com They have 2 locations available. I have been to the north office more since I live closer to it, but have found both to be equal. Hope this helps!

We use a family physician, Dr. Peter Hansen, on South Colorado Blvd between Yale and Evans who is simply wonderful and extremely supportive. We also co-slept with our daughter until she was 3. I breastfed my son until he was 21 months old. We use him for our whole family, our now 9 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter and my DH and myself.

It is normal for Pediatricians to offer up advice, it doesn't mean you need to take it. The real issue is if you trust them medically. I think you will find most Drs will suggest alternatives but you don't have to necessarily take them. I would worry more about if his medical advice is correct. Funny as my Pediatrician told me to start potty training my son when I wasn't ready, however her saying that in front of my son pretty much got him started...so sometimes they have good advice. Maybe research online for area Pediatricians and their styles.

See Dr. Noah Makovsky at Stapleton Pediatrics!!! He is the best. Not only was he named one of 5280 Mag's Top Docs, he is our pediatrician and we love him!!!! I am a first-time mom and had all sorts of questions and concerns regarding all of the immunization shots. One of the reasons I love D. Noah is we can dialog about issues of concern and I never feel like he is judging me or pushing me into anything I'm not comfortable with. He is kind, gentle and I swear, he was born to be a pediatrician. I am so glad we have him.
