Looking for a Football Class for Wives.

My husband told me that he heard of a class that women go to so they can learn more about football. He's mentioned that he'd like for me to go and I think it would be really cool to go so I can watch with him (and understand what's going on) and have more stuff to talk about. I know he would love it but I don't know where these classes are held. Anybody else heard of these classes and know where to find them? Thanks and God Bless!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for everyone's responses! If I find out when/where this class is I'll put a post up about it. I think I'll look for that book mentioned below. I want to learn about the game and my husband tries to teach me but I get so confused as football is a little more complicated that I thought!

There has been one in the past at TCU in Fort Worth. You might contact their athletic department about it.

I know a lot. I've been following a few teams since I was little :)

The game is pretty simple. I think you do need to be interested though in order to understand and appreciate strategy (believe it or not I help my husband with this part of it :) ). I am actually so into college that I am currently checking out where the high school players are committing to right now.

I've never heard of a class though--maybe we could all meet for a game sometime. Just email me through my profile :)

The Dallas Cowboys offer one but I'm not sure when the next one is. You might try their website.

I think one of the news stations used to hold a class in the fall at the Westin Galleria, but I haven't heard of it this year. I did see that actress Holly Robinson-Peete, who is married to a former NFL quarterback, wrote a book for women entitled, "Get Your Own Beer, I'm Watching the Game!: A Woman's Guide to Loving Pro Football". I've never read it, but it got pretty good reviews on Amazon.com from readers. Good luck!! It is a lot more fun to watch when you understand a little of what's going on. :o)

Ha ha ha...this is a great request. I am right there with all the others. I have NO IDEA what's going on. Do you suppose it was planned to be this way?!?! Luckily my husband is patient enough to explain to me what's going on. And he is always watching ESPN after the games so I watch those with him and ask questions too. My job is to make the football munchies and keep our daughter occupied and I love doing both. But it is nice to sit there with my husband and just enjoy the sit down time with him. When you find a class let me know please. I agree with some of the other mom's, if there isn't a class then we should all come together and make one of our own.

Lisa is right I think you have to appreciate the game to understand it. For me it was just watching and getting into it. I've always been a fan (Go Cowboys!) I may suggest just watching it with your husband and pay attention to what's going on after a few games you'll begin to pick up on the calls, and lingo of the game. It's a great game to watch especially with your husband. What we like to do so I can stay up on the sport and other teams is make bets so lets say the saints are going to play the vikings then we put a little wager on the game...Its usually something like if I say the vikings are going to win and they do then my husband will have to wash the dishes or something like that. It makes it more fun and you a little more interested. well good luck to you all looking for a class to learn more, but I suggest just watching the game a few times and ask a few questions during timeouts or breaks.
