Looking for Inexpensive Preschools in Virginia Beach

This last fall, my daughter went to the Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Preschool. Mrs. Callahan is the 3-year old teacher, and is very good. They're located on Thalia Rd.off of Va Beach Blvd, near the library. They take field trips monthly, and the monthly cost is only $120. Hope that helps!

Have you thought of starting a SAHM preschool with a few friends? I did this when my kids were younger. We had 4 moms and we simply traded days. I took one day a week the other moms took a day. Two mom's shared a day. We had lessons and activities planned and the kids had free play time outside. Each mom got about 6 hours a week to herself and she paid for it by providing a preschool lesson and activity for 6 kids for one day a week. I thought it was a great trade off. We did it during the school year when our older ones were in school.
You can make up your own or there is a program called Joy school. you can find it on the web.

I sent my daughter to a school called Childrens Harbor. It's cheaper than the rest. They have full time and part time and it was GREAT! My daughter loved it. The older children even go on field trips, the younger ones have the field trips come to them. check it out.

There is an AP Meetup group in the area. There is also MOPS and MOMS groups around. All are much less expensive than preschool. If you're looking for preschool educational activities, there are plenty of preschool worksheet books you can purchase online and many quality free homeschool preschool activities as well. I bought a worksheet book last summer for my 3 year old, but I've used more stuff I found for free online. If you need resources for these, let me know.

I am from Alexandria, VA. In July my boyfriend and I recieved custody of his two very young children. We were not expecting this and we both work full time. I am a teacher so once the school year was about to start we needed to look into daycares and ran into the same problem. What we did was go to our local social services building and got ourselves a social worker. Now mind you, we both earn pretty good money, but the living expenses around here are very expensive. She was able to direct us to the family services department and all we had to do was fill out some applications and we were able to have daycare paid for us until this process was over. It will be 4 1/2 months now and we are just being asked to start paying. WE filled out another application and we have a reduced rate based on our income. It has helped a lot. I am a proud person and growing up my family never recieved assistance on anything. It was hard for me to do this, but it has been a life saver and I am forever greatful for programs like this. It is really worth a try and you should look into it. Our children attend an acadamy and learn more and more everyday. It is great for their social skills and they have really come a long way. The academy has a pre-school in it as well. so as the kids get older, they go into older classrooms and learn, learn, learn. I hope it works out for you, things can be tough and we always put our children first!

I second Thalia Trinity. My son went there and my step-grandaughter is attending there now. They go 3 days a week (Tue-Thurs) and have 2 sessions a day. The teachers are great! My son loved it there! Hope this helps and happy hunting!

start a playgroup! no need for $$, and it will give your boys AND you the opportunity to hang out with friends. at 3 his learning occurs organically and joyfully in play. i'll bet you'll find other mothers out there overjoyed to have the chance to let their littles make new friends, and not pay pre-school fees.
how did it ever become so entrenched that kids can only learn in schools?
