Looking for Dance and Gymnastics Classes in the West Valley

Does anyone know of a decent dance studio that does not cost an arm and a leg. My daughter is going to be 6 and has outgrown the casual ballet class at the Y. She wants to do something more intense with a recital of some sort at the end. I've looked into a couple that I found on my own, but dang, they were expensive!
I'm also looking for a gymnastics/tumbling class for my 4 year-old. It can be casual and informal. He just needs a place to release some energy. We'll go more mainstream later on. Thanks for any hints.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I've signed my daughter up for dance classes through the Parks and Rec dept. She starts in September. I'm still looking for a gymnastics class for my son. He'll be playing T-Ball this fall instead.

I've heard Spisak Dance is good and more modest than some other dance studios.
Oasis Gymnastics is great. They are at 87th Ave. south of Bell. They have great pre-school classes and they also offer dance and cheer classes.
West Valley Sports and Dance just moved to a new building off Peoria Ave., just west of Dysart Rd. They offer dance, gymnastics, karate, and other classes in their facility.
I'm not sure what might be around the Avondale area.
Hope that helps!

Hi A.,
My 7 yr old daughter has been attending Leap of Faith Dance Plus (43rd Ave north of Peoria Rd), since she was three. She did tumbling, ballet, and tap when she was little. This past year she took hip hop, tap, and advanced tumbling. They also offer Pom and Cheer programs. My son thought it looked so fun that he signed up for hip hop too. They had a great time.
They are highly rated and the competition teams always win awards. The teachers are all very nice and the atmosphere is low key. It is a Christian based dance school so the costumes are more modest and the music is more conservative. Every year they have a program at Glendale Glitters and then the recital at the end of May. They also had a Special Guy dance that my husband took our daughter to. She loved it.
You can sign up for classes with them or through the Glendale Rec center. Their webpage is http://lofdanceplus.googlepages.com/home and phone is ###-###-####.
They have their schedule for the fall up, so you can look it over and see if you are interested in signing your daughter up.
Good Luck! R.

My daughter (also 6) attends Spisak Dance Academy (51st Avenue and Bell) I think one ballet class a week is $45, my daughter takes Ballet and Jazz for $85 a month. It is a good two hours on Saturday mornings.

My daughter is taking dance classes throught the Town of Buckeye. They have two 12 week classes per year with a recital at the end. Complete with costumes and performed in an auditorium. The remainder of the year is 6 week classes. Those are concluded with a small performance at the last class with a party. She loves it and is having so much fun. The instructors are contracted through a local dance company and are taught at the community center. The cost is very reasonable. $35 fot the 6 week class. Many cities offer classes for residents at a discount. Check with your city's website and see what is available.
